They outplayed the Leafs yesterday. I don't think that the Sabres are great, but they're not that bad.
Sabres usually play well against teams that don't forecheck hard or play soft and play terribly against teams that do the opposite. I'm sure that's true for a lot of teams but the difference is pretty clear this year that the Sabres don't handle pressure well particularly because their 1st pairing in McCabe and Risto fumble an bumble the puck everywhere but out of the D-Zone against any type of pressure though sometimes the forwards are also at fault for not making it easier. The only thing that's been consistent(that's good) for the Sabres is Eichel.

We need to stop praising them for their October record every year.

November was a difficult condensed schedule for the Sabres, and the team had a bunch of injuries to deal with. (Also, fwiw, they had the 2nd most shots off posts/crossbars in the league in November, and the PP shot at something like 2%, so not a lot of puck luck). After Boston, it looks like it's gonna be a wild race to the finish line in the Atlantic, and the Sabres are very much still in that race, sitting just 1 point back from TOR with a game in hand. We'll see what they do from here.

For all the I told you so marks the season isn't even close to over yet and the Sabres have mainly lost because of special teams this past month with incredibly unlucky scoring rate with the PP on shots that really should of been going in.

Good month/bad month

They're still a legitimate contender for the low playoff seeds.

If they are any good they have to beat NJ today because if you look at their schedule NJ is it when it comes to "soft" games until you get to LA and Ottawa but before that you got.

Calgary,, Vancouver, Edmonton, St Louis, Nashville, NYI, Toronto, likely with Marner back, and then Philadelphia.

Then you get LA and Ottawa, then you get Boston twice and then Tampa.

That is a BRUTAL schedule so when you do get a soft game NJ today, or LA or Ottawa, you need to win those because if you don't take advantage of those teams it could get rough.
