Devonta Freeman cut from ATL could be a nice RB2 add for probably around 4-5 mil per year.

I'm not 'sizist' but Singletary/Freeman would be a very small tandem.

I'm not sure Freeman hasn't lost a step either.

I still like the idea of drafting a guy in R2/R3 then putting a vet RB3 in the room with them.

Jefferson/Butler are the exact great mid tier / under the radar signings we should all have come to expect by now. Maybe they roll with 9 DL but I expect soneone gets cut.

I'm probably bring greedy but can Shenault slip to our 2nd pick? Has the size many seem to want & he does his best work differently to anyone else we have now that Mckenzie is gone.

Can I just say, seeing Tom Brady go to a team with a below average offensive line at age 42 puts a smile on my face. Not to mention Tampa Bay O-Line isn't going to get away with same shit that NE did. This is going to end badly for Tom Brady, and I can't wait.

Nice to see that you are not bitter.

I wish him the best. Glad he's out if the division - NE will be weaker next year as a result.

Don't do that. He's a waste of a roster spot.

Really?

Putting aside the intangibles (which are a huge deal in this situation) & solely focusing on their play last season - are you honestly telling me TJ Yeldon is more deserving of a roster spot than Gore?

Gore was over used - that wouldn't happen with 2 young guys in front of him instead of just Singletary.

Loving all the short term deals. We have 2 seasons on Tre and 3 on Edmunds before their rookie deals are up. And the cap is going to explode...we can build a perennial contender for a decade.

As I keep trying to tell you - they aren't going to mess about with either of these guys (or Allen).

Tre gets a new deal after this season. Allen / Edmunds will get new deals after the 2021 season.

I agree otherwise though. I tried getting this point across before - the big names on long contracts (Clowney/Reader etc) were never happening this year.

These Addison/Jefferson/Butler signings were exactly the type of moves to expect.

The intangibles are all Gore has going for him at this point. 3.6 yards/attempt, bad receiver out of the backfield. Time to move on. Yeldon should be canned as well.

3.6 ypc & no receiving skills are NOT a problem if he is only being used in a limited capacity as a short yards specialist.

No better guy to have in the room with Singletary & another rookie to show them how things should be done.

I guess that's where we disagree. We know Gore has lost a couple steps and has little to no versatility. I think he's likely a good presence in the locker room, but if Singletary gets hurt and we have to expand Gore's role we already know he can't handle it. Time to move on. There's a lot of options in free agency and the draft that can give you more on the field itself.

I still have nightmares of that 1st and goal at the 1 series where they plowed gore into the line for nothing 3 times in a row.

Uhhh yeah - I'm advocating taking a rookie with the R2/R3 & having Gore play behind both of them. NOT bringing him back into the role he played last year.

If your tandem has just a single year experience between them, it makes perfect sense to have a guy like Gore to support them.

I think you can find a veteran presence & still have a back that has a bit more gas left in the tank than Gore does.

I believe you could bring in a guy like Lamar Miller to be that RB2 & still find a RB on day 3 of the draft.

Yeldon's ypc was basically the same as Gore's except he had 10x less carries & wasn't handling the bulk of short yardage situations. Yeldon had a big fumble loss to boot.

Their receiving numbers were comparable too. Which is meant to be Yeldon's strength & Gore's weakness.

Gore brings infinite intangibles Yeldon brings none.

Yeldon should be nowhere near the roster. To complain about Gore then go on to call Yeldon 'fine' is laughable.

Read my original post. I didn't say the veteran HAD to be Gore.

I prefer the idea of a higher rated day 2 RB with a view of pairing him with Singletary though. Not adding a vet RB2 & a day 3 lottery ticket.

Howard was the guy I wanted in terms of the UFA route.

Yeldon just cant be counted on due to issues with fumbling. He only had one fumble in 2018 18 while starting 14 games, so I dont know why he struggled holding onto the ball in the preseason last year.
