Im curious what people saw in Sharangovich's game that should get him double the votes Smith has

Ty scored his first NHL goal and point while looking decent defensively (one specific play he was lock down on an odd man rush) and good in transition. All while being paired with, most likely, our worst defenseman this season

For the record, I thought Yegor looked very strong and poised out there for his first ever game. He was quick footed, well positioned, and took a few rippers. He was also trusted with some PK time

For the amount of impact they had last night, I liked Ty's influence a bit more during his time on

Yegor also drew 3 penalties and seemed solid defensively. Smith started out a bit nervous but settled down.

Lol I've played nearly my entire life...still do. And I coach.

Your post is kinda funny considering Hughes eventually still took it himself, so clearly he DID HAVE GAS IN THE TANK. Christ it's a wide open breakaway in the closing minute of OT for a 19 year old kid. GOOOOOOO.

Give him another year and I bet he doesn't hesitate in that situation. That's all I was saying. Simple stuff.

He was definitely coasting at first because he was looking to see if Zajac would catch up to make it a 2on1 or 2on0. Once he realized Zajac wasn't making it he moved for the breakaway instead. Maybe he should've realized earlier Zajac wasn't going to be that fast but in the moment if he thought he had a chance to make it an odd-man rush with better chances then a breakaway I understand the hesitation at first. And he still was able to accelerate fast enough to make it pretty much a clear-cut break.

Its probably just preference...I think Sharangovich's shot is a bit more sexy and tempting to fans.

Very true

I thought they should be closer in votes is all; I could see why Yegor gets more in the end because of his usage

Maybe I have become too soft with my awarding of top-3 players, from all the times they give them out for goals and first timers at games lol

Rango drew like 4 penalties last night, created some chances looked a bit invisible at times but i thought he looked better than Ty smith despite his circus goal
I think I am with you on this. Not 100% sure...the only reason I am not sure is I think it's a bit unfair to compare a winger to Dman in their first game. Ty had a little bit more to deal with than Sharongovich did in my opinion. But I do think Sharongovich looked better.

I thought all the youngsters did very well all things considered. 1st game of the year , vs. last years president trophy winners.
Smith took a bit to settle down , same as Hughes.
Only players I was not impressed with was Boqvist and Kukkakakakakakkken

I thought Boqvist looked strong on his skates as well as confident and did well to keep his head up

i think he looked better than Kuokkanen and McLeod

Big Mac, Sharagovich and McCleod for me. That 4th line played great and its nice to see McLeod and Bastian maybe settling into that role. Bastian impressed me on the PK. He was really controlling lanes and taking the body and smart times. Sharangovich was played in a bunch of situations which shows the staff really want to test him out at full speed. Palms wasnt very good offensively and made a bad play that lead to a goal against, but he was also playing pretty physical and hitting a ton. His beard also acts like a mask, so I doubt hell ever contract COVID, which is a plus.

Still set up our only 2 goals... if he finishes with 0 goals and 100 assists, still 100 pucks in the net. He had 2 or 3 grade A chances. They’re going to come

Correct but I heard that all last season when he finished with 7 goals in 61 games. I’m not saying he’s a bad player by any means but he’s a 1OA, he needs to be better is all.

I guess I am expecting too much of Boqvist then . I know it is one game but I am hoping to see some offence generated by him . I have him in a tier above Bastian etc. aka - not a 4th liner and hopefully can peak as a 2nd line/ 3rd liner that can chip in some points.

He’s 1 game into his sophomore season and had 2 points... really don’t know what else you want. It wasn’t going to change overnight. He hasn’t played in 10 months... am I crazy?

You always got to give a star to a rookie who scores his first goal, especially in his first game.

Jack Hughes will be between a second and third center. He just does not have have good hockey IQ. If he was selected in the 4th round, people would have enough of him already. In case Devils keep losing games, his teammates are going to call him out on this: He can't pass. Nothing frustrates players more than grenades. They will tell him eventually. He makes plays that don't exist, passes into skates, makes backhanded passes after dangling to confuse the line mates, and loses the puck each time. He can not make a simple tape to tape pass, he is random, has no shot, and can't play D. He has an awesome 1-2 step and good dangling (that's why fans thing he is great), but that's it. Yesterday he did look way more mature than first year though.

serious question, can somebody tell me how i can make this my HF signature?

I also like the general mayhem that Wood brought. Even if he does dumb shit, I want him to be involved in the game, running people over and getting shots.

As we all know, soft Wood is never a good thing.:sarcasm:

Jack Hughes was the most frustrating player to watch yesterday, and yes he was good in OT, he always will be good 3 on 3.

To be honest, besides Nico Hisher (2C), this entire team does not have much talent at all. Not a single player that would be on a first line on a good team. Watch Makar play and see what talent means.
This is an all-time hall of shame post. I always expect some fiery hot takes, but this is definitely something.
