Ten games Suspension for McGinn who intentionally launches upwards to make full contact with Sgarbossa's head OR a Clean hit?
50 pages if Wilson. Probably nothing happens. 50 games if Wilson.
Usual NHL approach
Take the hit. Don’t stop and pull back to try and dodge the hit. Won’t be a suspension.
This is a pretty dumb take. Even if he takes the hit he gets lit up in a dangerous spot where he easily crashes toward the boards. This definitely should be a suspension and guys have been suspended for much lessTake the hit. Don’t stop and pull back to try and dodge the hit. Won’t be a suspension.
It appears he does adjust his body in a manner that makes Sgarbossa’s head the principle point of contact. Sgarbossa stays in a pretty upright skating position throughout the play as well. I think this has to warrant some kind of suspension. McGinn could have used a simple poke check to separate the puck from Sgarbossa, who doesn’t appear to see McGinn right away.
Sgarbossa was jumping laterally to avoid the hit and failed miserably. It appears he does adjust his body in a manner that makes Sgarbossa’s head the principle point of contact. Bingo, McGinn was lined up for a shoulder to shoulder collision. Still blindside so not exactly clean, but the only reason the hit has the result it does is that it appears Sagrbossa literally saw him and reacted at the last possible moment, and the end result is putting himself in a far more vulnerable position. Definitely got the penalty it deserved but anything more than a fine would be questionable from the league.Take the hit. Don’t stop and pull back to try and dodge the hit. Won’t be a suspension.
If he didn’t see McGinn right away why was he making a move to try to go around him?
His upper body literally doesn't move at all. If he was trying to "avoid the hit" he failed miserably considering the only movement was his skates turning inward.Sgarbossa was jumping laterally to avoid the hit and failed miserably.
.....indicating a stopping motion to avoid the hit.only movement was his skates turning inward....
Or indicating he didn't see McGinn and was going to attack the net? Would love to see another angle of this instead of a clipped, zoomed in version that doesn't give this hit any context.....indicating a stopping motion to avoid the hit.
But he looks right at Mcginn a couple frames earlier.Or indicating he didn't see McGinn and was going to attack the net? Would love to see another angle of this instead of a clipped, zoomed in version that doesn't give this hit any context

He was trying to avoid the hit, I can watch and see with my eyes, he even tries to make a move with the puck to bring it inside and jump inside. Easy to see. McGinn got in a high hit for sure, but I wasn't arguing against that. His upper body literally doesn't move at all.
