The Shero / Hynes duo actually reminds me of the Maccagnan / Bowles duo.

In 4 years, each duo has had one good year. The HC mainly got the blame before the GM has. GM was beloved at first. But the deeper you get into the 4th year, you realize the situation still isn't great and fans start losing patience with the GM as well.

i think this team can make the playoffs with kinkaid and a new coach. if its done before this road trip

i think you are emphasizing the coach ..too much its hard to accept that the team itself just doesn't have good enough players.. they don't have enough.. the front office gamble that wood.. zacha.... hischier... bratt..... butcher... mueller..... santini.....would all come back even better than the previous year... those were big gambles and they just have not materialized... add to the fact that the biggest question mark...goaltending is playing out as we all feared.. schneider looks to be done ..... and KK is probably a below average starter at best..

My question is, why aren't the players responding anymore? Has Hynes just been here too long and they're tuning him out? As much as I dislike some of Hynes' personnel decisions, there's no excuse for veterans or even just guys who were here last year to be playing this badly or to outright quit working hard. Did they get too full of themselves last year, or get complacent?

Honestly I barely payed attention to this one.

Miles wood needs to stop chirping. I mean he’s embarrassing on the ice. Absolutely atrocious hockey player right now and runs around the ice like he’s in charge. He’s making a joke out of his name

I don’t know why our players don’t care this year. I said this back in training camp, there just wasn’t the same buzz around the team but it’s more than clear nobody playing right now gives a **** ahout this team or where it goes.

Whether it’s ray, Hynes, the assistants, a player I don’t care. To not make any changes after the way we’ve been playing is absolutely ****ing unacceptable.

Buckle up everybody. Going to be a long, ****ty hear of devils hockey

Think you nailed on the head here. Only thing I can think of is that this group doesn’t have it in them to do what they had to do last season in order to have success. It’s insanely hard work and I think that drive was missing from the very start.

As for Wood, he’s a joke. Pure loser. You don’t win with a self absorbed asshole like that. Fringe player playing hardball in contract negotiations. I want him gone from this team more than anything.

Like I've said before, I give Shero the benefit of the doubt for this last summer. He put his faith in the players who were here, and so far they've failed miserably (with a few exceptions of course). He does need to be more active moving forward though. Another summer of inactivity and I'm going to seriously wonder what the hell is going on.

I think the dam bursts one way or another once the Hall saga plays out.

Maybe he is getting heat from Shero lol...it's a bit odd he'd reference being a cap team unless it was somehow brought up in the question.

Looks like while Shero hasn't been seen publicly, he's been communicating privately with Hynes and wasn't happy with the crap he's been seeing.

And Hynes is salty that Shero RIGHTLY criticized him.

Ouch...did he really say that??

The main difference being Shero actually hired Hynes, while Maccagnan and Bowles were kept seperate by the consulting firm that hired them.

Skeletor on Tampa: "They're a cap team & have some good players."

Methinks Shero might not like that comment.

He’s done and he knows it. Bench the star player (who overall hasn’t been bad this year). Then making a sly comment about the budget. That is done by a coach who has already been told he needed to turn it around by the west coast trip.

Source? I mean I think you and I are just assuming that's happened because of that little dig but is there any proof of it?

We thought they might continue to stink and, in fact, they stankified Newark tonight. The only surprise today was Bratt's illness. They also looked absolutely dejected. I hate seeing the boys befuddled and bedraggled. It's hard to even know where to start.

A few thoughts to tide over the faithful flock and any stray Devils that might wander onto our beloved bulletin board...

The difference between a good team (perhaps not the elites) and a bad time is not too great. Only last year the Coyotes and Rangers were getting stomped and the Devils were playoff bound. This year, with largely the same cast, the outlook is bleak. It says something about the marginal benefit of a positive mindset and teamwork, both of which are absent at the moment. This team needs an All Star break 2 months ago.

But, this means they can turn it around, but they need to get their minds right.

I would imagine if you are Shero or Hynes you go back to first principles...build from the net out. You need to think about who gives you the best shot to win in net. Sadly, "I don't know" is what the recent history suggests. Kinky is a better puck handler so perhaps that gives you one answer.

Beyond that, I think they need to focus on the basics and return to a more conservative style. Step 1, stop giving up 4+ goals a game. Forget about the offense--protect the house, protect the puck and protect the shots. Baby steps. The patient must re-learn to walk.

I didn't mind Zacha on the half-wall. If this season is washed up, let's get some things out of it. Let Pavel get some PP time. Nico, work on those face-offs. Brett, give Lance Armstrong's trainer a call. Mojo, rewatch the Wizard of Oz and realize that the Cowardly Lion always had a heart. Hall, maybe re-use a stick for two games-you are in your head bigly. Wood, stop taking power skating lessons with David Clarkson.

Coleman, figure out how to mic yourself up and start a youtube channel...profit. Boyle, stop watching Marek Malik shootout videos. Seriously, how awesome would that goal have been tonight? Zajac, never change. You rock.

Just be happy. I'm trying.

Shots fired

Did anybody see Hynes presser? After having to watch Tampa's feed all game, I at least was able to turn it over to the post game and caught that.

Hynes said a bunch of the usual, looked pretty depressed as it started, but started to act perky later on. One thing he did was he made sure to give Tampa credit and one of the things he said in giving them credit was ''They're a cap team, they're skilled''. They're a cap team? Sounds like a subtle call out if you ask me.

I'm assuming, too.

But I'd like to think that Shero isn't sitting in an enclosed room with no internet, windows, or anything else.......

HE HAS GOT TO KNOW THE SITUATION!

So that's why I'm assuming that Hynes little dig was because perhaps they had a meeting at some point OR Hynes was immediately called on his Cell postgame by a very irate Shero..

I'm glad someone else did catch that.

To be honest, I didn't read any of the previous posts before I ran here to make my post about how Hynes said ''They're a cap team'' but it looks like everybody else is talking about it.
