A good game for Kuznya youth tonight, so time to review what does the youngest team in the league have to offer with breakthrough players.
Andrei Kareyev is now a frequent backup in Novokuznetsk, he appeared in 7 games, went 2-4 (or 1-4-1, as khl.com insists), has pretty impressive stats of 92.6 sv% and 2.63 GAA. He makes some very good reaction saves, but still struggles with the short corner shots.
Vladislav Podyapolsky only played 45 minutes so far.
Nikita Lyamkin is used as a 1st pairing defenseman these days, playing 19:03 a game and used a lot on PP, he also tries joining the attack a lot. More responsibilities bring the best out of his defensive game, but he has no points in 16 games and is still pretty inconsistent. -3 on the season so far.
Timur Fatkullin (1997) seems to have won a KHL job, playing on the 2st pair today in his 4th game and scoring his first 2 KHL points (1+1). He's a good-sized defenseman (189 cm, 92 kg), skates well and seems to understand the principles of hockey.
No forward is making an impact like Kazakov and Kaprizov did last year, but some of them still play respectable hockey.
Kirill Semyonov scored 1+1 today, along with a good SO goal, and is now leading the team with 7 points (3+4) in 16 games, -4. A skilled and smart player, he's also surprisingly physical, leading the team with 29 hits. His play without the puck is also very solid.
Kirill Lebedev doesn't seem to be taking off as I hoped, but still has 2+4 with -2. Like Semyonov, he's really good without the puck, winning a lot of board battles and responsible while defending.
Another talked about forward is Evgeny Solovyov (1992). he got sent down to the VHL, scored 4 goals in 2 games there and is now back with Kuznya, having scored 2+1 in 7 games with Metallurg.
