Whatever the recent noise is on this... it still stands as a win win trade for both the Blues and Flyers. Worked for both teams in the moment and hopefully works for both teams in the years to come.

Secondly, Richards to LA was also win win. Neither side would undo the deal.

This was Hextall trying to be smarter than the room and selling low on Schenn. Then, to make matters worse, he passes on Tolvanen and takes Frost with that Blues pick. In 3 years that in itself is going to be comical.

Yes, the Frost pick is looking like a horrible decision. An 18 year old 2 points out of leading the entire OHL in scoring....just terrible drafting. :sarcasm:

People should pump the brakes on the Tolvanen hype train. Great prospect but Frost has had a fantastic year and there's no reason that Philly should regret that pick.

Now that the Blues don’t have a 2nd line center, Schenn is more valuable to the Blues than at the time of the trade. It’s still a good trade for us and I would do it again, without hesitation.

For the Flyers, the trade has already paid dividends and will in the future as well.

All in all, it’s a trade that makes sense for both teams. The only thing that should matter to either fanbase is whether it makes sense for their team. In that regard, both should be happy.

Honestly, winning trades isn’t something we should be focused on IMO. It’s Just ego stoking and I don’t see much value in that.

But, having a GM make a trade that works in your teams favor is a big plus toward our shared interest as a hockey fan in that it move us closer to seeing our team win a Cup. That’s about more than ego fulfillment to me. Sharing that event with friends, family and community would be about pure joy. And there is nothing wrong with that IMO.

Your post made some sense on draft day because few knew much about Frost while Tolvanen was rising but today unless you are just back from deep coma it is comical indeed.

And you know all about things looking comical a few years down the road. You are the worst evaluator of talent on this entire message board.

You either can skate and have hands or you don't. Couturier doesn't. If he hasn't improved in these areas during the last 2 offseasons, chances are he never will. The Flyers have made him a 3rd line "defensive" center and that's all he'll amount to because he either doesn't want to improve in other areas or he just can't. And, like you said, players of his ilk can be found in later rounds or acquired for a 3rd round pick.

What "hole" is caused by trading Sean Couturier? The role of a 3rd line, checking center? We currently have Max Talbot who can slip right into that role and we have Scott Laughton waiting in the wings who could end up even better at that role because of his skating ability and edge.

You do realize that Sean Couturier was a trade chip that could have been used to get Bobby Ryan, Loui Eriksson or Jonathan Bernier this summer, right? For two year's now, Couturier is a player other teams have coveted in trade talks yet Paul Holmgren considers him an "untouchable" for some odd reason.

Morgan Frost had 112 points in the OHL this season, in case you missed it.

3rd for Couturier, eh? I'll offer a 2nd for him if you throw in that over the hill cap dump Giroux!

(in case it wasn't obvious enough...:sarcasm:)
