Looking amazing for St. Louis. Always liked B. Schenn but didn't the Flyers get 2 first round picks? (frost and upcoming 2018 pick albeit will probably will be a low one)

Can this trade become one of the worst in NHL history? Like scott Gomez level bad? Schenn is looking great right now and i don't know why the flyers got rid of him.

30 points in 22 gp as we speak

Hextall came to the conclusion that he wasn’t a core piece moving forward and that the organization would be better off with two late 1sts instead.

It was an HFBoards-tier “Prospects > Proven players” trade where the thought process is that a rebuilding team needs to trade anything remotely “short term” for picks. Hextall apologists wrote it off on Schenn being a powerplay specialist and that literally anyone could fill his spot on our top unit.

He's a bit of a late bloomer. Never did this on Philly. They still got decent vale. Can't judge until you see the picks.

The return for Philly wasn’t horrible at the time, all things considered. Just looks bad right now because the Schwartz - Schenn - Tarasenko line has been unreal to start the year and the jury is out on the picks.

Morgan Frost probably won't be able to redeem this trade.

At most, he'll make it decent. And that's a "maybe"

Cannot judge a trade when all the picks haven't even been used yet. ... Philly got what they wanted is up to them to score on the draft, any way it was 1 first for Schenn and one to dump Lehtera. ... yes he is that bad

You have to look at the big picture for a team. If Schenn stays in Philly, what do they accomplish with him before his contract expires?

He wasn't doing what he is in STL with philly. Philly is developing a young blueline. Need forwards to grow with them.

Imo, any move your team makes should be about getting them into cup contender status in the period where they believe they can contend. Could be this year, 3 years, or 5 years. Philly isn't a contender until their D core matures and one of their young goalies rises to take the #1 job. Likely, they have to move Simmonds for young talent before his deal is up.

Seemed like a good trade, was a late bloomer.

He's been great to start the season but way too early. Flyers got two 1st round picks which is nothing to sniff at. I doubt Schenn would replicate this success if he was on the Flyers.

Not sure how Flyers fans ever supported or at least thought the trade was a wash at best. Obviously playing with Tarasenko helps Schenn, but he's always been a streaky, but good young player who hadn't peaked and Lehtera has been an albatross for a long time now. Better hope that draft pick was worth it.

Schenn was asked tonight by Pierre in the post game why he is playing at such a higher level. He responds saying, "I just think we just play more of my style of hockey."

Maybe that is all it is. Maybe it really was just a guy who needed a change of scenery, got it and then took off.

I'll join the army of Blues fans who will probably tell you it can't be on that list until we see what Philly does with the picks and to see if Schenn can keep this up.

That said, sometimes all a guy needs is to play with the right people. Schenn clicked with Schwartz as soon as camp started, and once they moved Tarasenko to that line, they've probably been as good as anyone in the league 5 on 5. It's just a matter of if they can keep it up.

Schenn wasn't going to do this in Philly. He's in the perfect situation to succeed. He's playing with great linemates and they play a style that benefits him better plus he's playing his natural position. BTW it's not even really Tarasenko helping him break out, it's been him and Schwartz. Those 2 have more points than Tarasenko so far this year and have been absolutely incredible together.

I could be wrong but isn't he a UFA in a year and a half? Long term not a bad deal by philly if they didn't have cap space to sign him

I have to say, im glad i brought Schenn up as much as i did in any Blues-season predictions (which were all positive) in the summer. I was afraid i'd hype him up too much, but he's been even better than expected.

For whatever reason just one of those things where you just knew it was going to be a good fit. Schenn is a really good offensive player, and has been working hard to meet the requirements of a top line player which is nice to see.
