I feel like Schenn is trying to figure out what type of player he's going to be in the NHL. He's gotten away from his physical style as of late which I don't like but IMO he'll be fine in the long run. I think considering the current state of the roster and prospects he's got that time to put it all together.

He looked awesome against the Canucks. He looks like he's starting to finally put it together to become the "best player not in the NHL" that we were all so excited to get

B Schenn is solid at RW, but I think what you see is about all you'll get, a 2nd line guy who'll be good but not great, who can be physical, but not on a consistent basis like Simmonds, who can shoot, but isn't a deadly shot, who can skate, but not like the wind, who can maneuver, but can't control the puck like Voracek.

A solid player with a long future of productive play, but not one to overpay.

Your analysis of Schenn matches my view of him. I think that he'd rather play center which isn't going to happen on this team. There are teams that would play him there. If the right team offs a decent LW in return, Hexy should move him for that.
I believe that he will seek and get an OS in the $4.5M range this summer. For what he gives to the Flyers, that's too much. I'd trade him (not dump him) before that situation would arise.

B. Schenn is someone who I criticized because of his consistency issues. He'd go too many games where he was just plain invisible throughout.

This year, I'm noticing even if he's not scoring points, he's still making sound plays in both zones.

I would have liked to see him get a long at center. Laughton isn't a finished product by he hasn't Sharon me anything that makes him a lock. I guess the downside of putting Schenn at third line center would be trying to get him enough minutes behind Giroux and Coots.

Schenn at C does nothing for me, at LW he's a marginal player, the difference for him at RW v any other role has been huge.

So if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Some guys can move around, Voracek looks comfortable at LW after two games, Read moves back and forth - but Schenn may like center but he's not that productive there. If he was, he'd be a center, with Laughton at LW because they have other RW options.

as long as he plays on RW with Couts, i'm fine with him staying. he can't play anywhere else in the lineup.

On pace for another 20g, ~45 point campaign. I'm happy with that.

Re-sign for ~$4M and glue him and Coots together for life.

Schenn, when asked about playing with Couturier the other day said something along the lines of...

Couturier is super easy to play with, you always knows where he is going to be as he is always in the right position on ice.

They were great together for the Phantoms as well... I believe that Schenn was on Couturier's RW down there when they played together as well?

Thought he was really good again tonight. He seems to play more loosely with Couts, like he has more freedom. I might be making that up in my head, but maybe he was deferring to G too much offensively on that top line.

what a game for Brayden, him and coots have great chemistry and we saw that at the end of last season, Brayden needs to be a part of this teams future for a reasonable price 4-4.5m he is really coming into his own this season, finally

Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right role.
Schenn as the RW with Couts is a much better player than at center or LW with G. It's not always logical, but what works, works.

I've been very impressed with his play for the past 20 games or so. He's playing with a ton of confidence and looks very dangerous entering the zone. His feed to Del Zotto for the second goal yesterday was a thing of beauty. Keep him on Couts right wing and we could really see things take off for the two of them. They could certainly form a nice 2nd line (or 3rd potentially) for years to come if we keep Voracek and Simmonds up with G.

Bring in a nice left winger in the draft to play with either Couts or Laughton and we could be rolling 3 great lines out in the 2017 season.

Voracek -- Giroux -- Simmonds
Gauthier -- Couturier -- Schenn
Lindblom/NAK -- Laughton -- Konecny

Maybe the trading of his brother shook him up a bit. Seems to be playing much better of late and all together this season. I used to be a Gung Ho trade Schenn guy, but now I'm fine with him. He's the least of this team's worries right now.

Voracek seemingly being comfortable on LW is huge for us.
Hopefully Hakstol now finally keeps Schenn and Couturier together for good. Future looks bright if they can make the next step this season.

He's 3rd on the team in goals (1 behind Simmer and 3 behind G) and 4th in points (1 behind Simmer for 3rd and 5 behind Jake for 2nd) in 2 less games played. And lets keep in mind the whole team has struggled to score this year. I mean when G is on pace for 25 goals and 63 pts, you can't be too upset if Schenn puts up 20-26-46.

It's been mentioned a few times already but the most important part is that he's looked better in putting up these numbers.

tremendous game from him. i don't know why or how, but he is consistently stringing together smart plays in every zone. he's dominating the boards with coots and it looks like he's understanding the game better, i thought his development had stagnated for a while. great to see.

People have been wanting him to play with Couturier for a long time because they are always good together. They've had good chemistry since the AHL. I don't know why it takes coaches so long to see it.
