Brad was a great Bruin. I was disappointed when he was traded to the Flyers. (Peeters?) I remember McCrimmon being more "fireplug" like than Carlo. I think Brad was less than 6 feet tall.

I was meaning more a very solid defensive defenseman at an early age.
He could team with Charlie Mac similar to McC did with Bourque.
Good solid combo.

Oh look. Another super talented defencman the bruins drafted. Big strong. Smart. Long reach. Has made three saves :sarcasm:

He has been great this season so far. He's jumping up in the play more, making smart plays and look way more confident with the puck.

Whatever he did this summer is paying off big time.

Over 22 min last night plus player . Blocked shots 6 foot 5 wingspan shutting everyone down. Skates so smoothly for a big man. Uses his stick so wisely and disrupts the opposition entering our zone continuously. What a steal absolute steal in 2nd round by Donny. He's becoming my favourite bruin right now.

I love that he is continuing to develop the snarl/toughness he began to show late last season, he's not a doormat any longer.

Now if he can just do something about his offense..... :crossfing

He's getting there? If he ends up being a 5-20 shut down guy, I'm happy. I like him as a 0-5 shut down guy too, but would like to see his offense keep trending the way it has the past couple of games.

Best overall game I have seen from him. The last couple of games he has shown another level in terms of puck play. He has been making the quick easy play with the puck and is even jumping into the play. Really positive signs in terms of his development.

Can't agree more. All of a sudden a light has turned on and he has confidence in his talent.
I like his decision making in jumping into the play where there is an opportunity in the offensive zone. Of course it helps that Cassidy's system has a man back to cover the blue line.

Carlo has quietly developed into a still growing but very sound D man who can be trusted in all situations

My wish is only this, please let this kid stay healthy to play playoff hockey

Vlasic just got 7, Tanev got 4.45 3 years ago.

5 per is right in line for a top stay at home defender.

Can't really compare Carlo's contract to either of those. Vlasic was a UFA and Tanev was on his 3rd contract. Based on my understanding, Tanev had two more years before he became a UFA, whereas Carlo will have four more years before he its UFA. Contracts are more expensive when you're buying out more UFA years.

I'd look at something closer to Brett Pesce's contract. ($4.025 x 6 years)

Geeze ... All this talk of ‘locking him up long term’. I wouldn't hesitate to trade him if the right deal were in place to make this team better.

Just not that impressed with some of his decision making. Hall Gill 2.0? Alberts 1.5?

Not the 2nd coming of Chara like most are hoping for ... That’s for sure.

And who takes his spot in the top 4, Miller?

Should we “book it”?

guy is 22 and is a top 4 D man still growing into that role, not one person/poster I have read ever thought or felt he was ever going to be the 2nd coming of Z who is beyond unique.

Does that mean I wouldn`t trade him for the right piece? Not so sure I would at this time, right handed D man, mobile, getting better each year, big body, whose in the system who could step in and replace his role? And is that "right piece" another righty who can do what he does or better? Nobody in the system is ready to step in and do what he does, so that right move would HAVE to be another right handed D man IMO, just don`t see that guy being available
