I didn't expect a huge return being that Boychuk is in the final year of his contract... but why deal him away now ?

Not cool. Had time to get this sorted out and I would have found a way to keep Johnny versus this. Uuuuugh !!!

Yes, let the bidding war form other NHL gm's begin.

No need for a bidding war. There are always small market teams looking to meet the cap floor. Not to mention the two get-of-jail-free cards aka compliance buyouts.

dead on. You need to build a contending team for years not just a one and done. Chia has been doing a great job at keeping us in the running year after year after year. Sometimes you make it sometimes you don't but as long as you have many chances to do it your going to win much more then if you are only all in for one.

Which is why I no longer understand the Seguin deal.

Because they didn't think he would change his ways and be matured while playing here. If he was not going to grow up here they wanted other pieces that were willing to buy in. Its pretty simple really. It wasn't a skill thing with Seguin we all know that guy has mad skills. It was a this kid just doesn't want to grow up move.

I think giving them credit for a trade they didn't pull off is weird.

Chiarelli agreed with us last year they needed a defenceman, and he agrees with us today the team got worse.

But "prima donnas" and "chicken little" and other insults because we hate a move.

I'm going to get a kick out of the potential situation one day where Morrow comes up and shines, and people say "CHIA!!!!"

I have no clue if it will happen, but if it does, I'll have a little smile on my face.

I'm just sad that people are upset about the quality of this team. I finally got to pop a bottle of champagne in 2011, first time in my life. I've had a top team to cheer for every year since. Man life is GOOD in Bruins town. Honestly this run is awesome, and it's got a lot more in it. Wish people weren't such perfectionists, it's like hockey OCD.

Mike Richards played 15 mins a game last playoffs, some games he was the #4 C, some games the #3. 5.75m per.

It's hard to win the cup man. It's hard to win that cup.

I also think acting like Meszaros was their big target at the deadline is weird.

right because we know everything they says is a big fat LIE. Fight the power fight the man. Fire Chia!!!!

Listen, you want to wash his balls, go right ahead. I've been critical of the guy's missteps while giving him plenty of credit for his positive deals. This move today came out of necessity, but only because he ****ed up the cap to start with. And no, it wasn't all because of Iggy's bonus money, and PC "going all in". It was because he grossly overpaid bottom of the roster types after they won it all in 2011. To be honest, he got lucky it took this long to become a problem. In his defense, another mistake with the cap (Iggy's bonus money) coupled with RFA status of Krug and Smith really magnified the multiple missteps he's made regarding the cap.

now it was ference and boychuk that shut down crosby and malkin?

shawn thornton isn't on the team anymore either, did he play a big part in shutting them down too?

this fanbase falls head over heels in love with middle guys who aren't good enough to be top guys but are good enough to avoid being specialists. mark stuart, andrew ference, etc.

It always was... the top pairing Chara-Seids shut down one line and Ference-Boychuk shut down the other. I don't know what you were watching?

The return is just barely good enough that I won't freak out about the move and will see if he has something major in mind for the trade deadline.

and here we go with you wanting them to Keep JB a bottom 3 guy and overpay him. Kinda goes against your own argument no?

Z, Seids, Hamilton are all above JB on the D. That makes him bottom 3 and going to be grossly overpaid after this year.

grow up with the ball washing Lonnie. We fool around with some stuff but your better then that.

We have been slowly downgrading everywhere over the past few years, since our Cup year. The results show. But yes, let's worry about 2017 now.

Because it's about the money. Keep the fans coming! Get as close as possible to great! If they truly wanted to win Boychuk would stay and he'd walk at the end of the year.

Who is doing that?

It's a criticism he was the best they could do.

Well, if they thought they had a deal in place for Edler and had the carpet pulled out from under them by Vancouver owners at the last minute (which I believe was the story) perhaps Meszaros as a depth addition was the best option remaining.

Let's just imagine that don't have an in-house candidate who can suitably fill a top 4 role, what do you think it will cost to trade for one during the season?

And Johnny was great last year and better than a 4. Needs to be said.

really so if we have been downgrading every year and can still have the best record in the NHL that's pretty good no? You can't keep everyone you just can't, at the same time people want the kids to make the team and play a bigger role. You can't have both its just not possible.

JB going makes Hamilton top 3 and now he has a much bigger role to play on the team. I think he makes JB an afterthought by mid season I expect him to have a monster year.

Go back and see what I've posted here. At no point did I have an issue with them moving Boychuk. I do have an issue with them moving him for futures though, since this team is in a cup window, and they've now gotten worse. Pretty easy to follow that logic, I would think.

Ball washing. Ball washing. Ball washing...

:naughty:

That's called failing at your objective. There were also those of us that day that said if they couldn't get a top 4 defenseman they should have traded for a forward, especially since prices were so low.
