It should be Looch instead. Chara out for 5 minutes is a much bigger deal than Lucic.

Not sure why either of them have to fight Scott anyway. Two designated fighters fought a staged fight, it was clean, no cheapshots, and our guy took a tough one and got hurt.

It happens.

I'd rather see them respond by just being tougher and more physical during the normal course of the game.

They don't have too, but don't you think they want to?

i'm sorry but anyone calling for a Bruin like Chara or Lucic to fight Scott as "revenge" or whatever in the next game is an idiot. The guy Bruins should be going after is Stafford for that ridiculous elbow on Dougie. The Sabres think that Scott gives them free reign to play dirty hockey. You wanna show them that's not true, you don't take matching 5's with Scott, you keep running their punk-ass star players and show them that the Bruins are going to stick up for themselves no matter who is on the ice. The lack of response to that elbow bothered me a hell of a lot more than the Thornton beatdown.

And anyone who doesn't understand how THIS team works is an idiot. You think for a minute it sits right with Chara that Thornton got the beat down of his life and he didn't so much go near Scott the 4-5 minutes he was even on the ice. You think it sat well with Chara that Scott did the "shhhh" sign to the Bruins bench? They don't HAVE to..but I don't doubt for a minute they WILL do something

Of course you think the Bruins should go after Stafford...easy, soft target. And what happens when Lucic beats Stafford into next week? When Scott comes after Chara? Oh yeah right, ignore him. ****ing lame. Montreal type response.

I expect lots of games this year for every team where they collectively suck and/or play incredibly stupid hockey. This is what you get when you cram 48 games into three months following a 6 day training camp.

This is so true. Mileage is going to vary from team to team, but I figure all teams are going to be hit by fatigue at varying times this season where the team is going to be flat or just not have the skating legs or mental acuity to get the job done.

The 2 and 3 and 4 day breaks this season are going to be far more important than in other seasons.

Exactly. Chara and Lucic should tell Scott to go F himself if he tries to start anything and instead make sure Stafford gets his for the elbow. Oh and they should put somebody on Vanek and make him pay all not long. Hit hard and hit him often and take him out of the game because that guy is to the Bruins what Krejci is to the Flyers.

God forbid another team's player dare to beat our specialist fighter in a consensual duel! God forbid he then "shush" our bench! Oh the arrogance! Oh the cruelty!

Do you have any idea what the B's players have been chirping at the Sabres since the Lucic-Miller incident? Do you think Lucic and Marchand have been all gentlemanly with them since? Is it not at all possible that our guys deserved to get shushed after all the salt they've doubtless rubbed in the Sabres' wounds? What about Lucic boarding their guy just this last game? Doesn't count? But no, we were the only victimized ones. Victimized by a clean, fair fight and a harmless "shhh" gesture. Really? We can't take a little back-and-forth with a team we've bullied for a good while now? We can't tolerate a team standing up for itself? That's disappointing, I'm sorry. That's thin-skinned, and playing the victim is ...well...a Montreal type response.

C'mon B's fans. Toughen up.

no

that is why the Bruins have success, the Bruins are the team that does the "shushing".... lose that and we don't win the cup two years ago and lose that and we won't ever win it again

the Scott-Seidenberg play after that really still bothers me too, there is no doubt at all that the Bruins were the intimidated team, and that is the first time I have seen that in a long long time and it doesn't bode well

Pretty sure people are confusing the Sabres actually having some semblance of spine for once, with the Bruins being intimidated.

You're right. Bruins loved getting beat in every facet of the game Thursday. I'm sure they are fine with it.

Yeah that's what I have seen for the last 4 years too...but whatever. I'm sure it's all over and done with for the B's.

What is going on with the so tough Buffalo team getting destroyed by the weak Habs?

I'm beginning to wonder just how weak they are. Price has been absolutely on his game so far. Damn I hate the Canadiens, as do we all. I thought they were still going to suck this Season.

After seeing Buffalo's dominating performance today, I agree with everyone... Nothing was on the Bruins minds during that game Thursday.. :sarcasm:

Weren't the Bruins leading 3-1, 4-3 and so close to make it 5-5?

Don't understand the notion that they had something on their mind cause of that useless Scott.

What is Scott impact today or since the start of the season for the out of the playoffs Sabres?

This is exactly what I did.

If you have a better measure of talent than on ice production, I'd be glad to see it.

You went back for a single season. Again, lots of players have moved to new teams. Are you really trying to argue the point that players like Crosby, Malkin, Nash, Graborik, Richards don't have higher offensive upside than the B's top six over their careers? Seriously? I mean, even Tampa Bay has Stamkos, St. Louis, and Vinny. Those guys have more offensive upside too. It doesn't mean they're a better team, it's just a hard fact. The most consistent offensive forward for the B's is Horton, and he's not anywhere near the guys I mentioned in terms of his ceiling.

Without saying you aren't right, Bruins game, team built and coaching is different from alot of NHL team, and Teams identity. Alot of Bruins player in another game plan, other team and different strategy would have more points and better offensive stats.

That said, the most consistant O player on the Bruins this year was DK not Horton.

Bruins will be consistant with their four lines. I do believe they have one of the most different and toughest top 6 to play against.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. In the case of saying Horton was their most consistent offensive player, I was meaning in terms of goals. However, if DK is the team's most consistent offensive player, it speaks to exactly what I mean about other teams having players with higher ceilings.

Really? Why do you say that?

Why don't I think our $7 million Dman won't challenge a 3-minute-a-game goon?

Becuase he's our $7 million Dman and Scott is a 3-minute-a-game goon.

If Scott starts running around cheap-shotting guys while Chara's on the ice, that's a different matter. Or maybe Scott challenges Chara.

But Chara looking for Scott to challenge him? I don't see it.

So if Scott had or has no impact....why did Thornton feel the need to fight him?

Everybody knows Scott can't play. So why even bother?

I think its because Thornton had been taking on all comers prior to the fight and based on his most recent bouts was trending upwards and probably cracked the top 5 fighters in the NHL and thus considered himself a heavyweight.

I respect Shawn for going but it was a mistake b/c a team that we owned had new life breathed into them by a guy who can't play hockey since he was able to dominate that bout.

MacDermid was also in the lineup for that game which goes to show that the Bruins made the mistake of acknowledging Scott before the game even started.

We have an awesome team, and by the looks of our record should find ourselves cruising through the season in first place. ANd unfortunately after the Buffalo game I think there will be a few games where teams have a point to prove to themselves more than anything that they are tough and we get dragged into a lot of fights unnecessarily and have to deal with cheapshots. Rewarding the Sabres for signing Scott by dressing Mac and Shawn going with him was a mistake, it happens, I just don't want Lucic or Chara busting a nuckle on a 4th line plug.

Thornton has always taken on all comers. It's part of his job and he's been as good or better than anyone in the league at it.

They don't have too, but don't you think they want to?

Why would anyone want to fight Scott?

Chara and Lucic are hockey players, not boxers or ultimate fighters.

It seems Lucic doesn't mind the fighting, but I don't think Chara relishes it at all. When he fights its just part of his job description as the 6'9" captain.

Agreed. Lucic is one of those on the B's whose face seems to light up when the gloves are dropped (McQuaid being the ultimate example of this). Plus he does have some training in the ring.
