Borowiecki was pretty clearly finished with that fight, having let go of Subban and no longer protecting his face. And Subban decided to hold onto his jersey to prevent them from being split up. At that point, Borowiecki's throwing a punch is no longer a cheap shot, it's a guy who realizes his opponent is prolonging the fight.

Sens fan opinion...

Habs started the scrum, Sens finished it.

Boro clearly looked like he didn't want to fight Subban, but Subban insisted on trying to pull him around, throw him down, etc. Eventually Boro acquiesced.

Subban isn't soft, and he didn't turtle. He's very strong.

Neil/Patches...well all I can say is Patches picked the wrong guy to try and facewash. I was impressed that he didn't back down though - heck he forced Neil to take a triple minor.

For most of the game the Habs were the ones throwing the extra shots after the whistle trying to goad the Sens into penalties. Habs got 4 mins of PP from this and to my knowledge didn't get a shot out of out it.

2 garbage players taking cheap shots at the other team's stars. When is Karlsson and Ryan's turn to fight some 4th liners or depth defensemen?

Its time when Karlsson or Ryan get in the faces of another team's tough guys.

Pac rushed to the aid of Parenteau, who obviously has taken the MTL course in diving, after a little shove send him sprawling to the ice.

Unfortunately for Pac, Neil intercepted his brave rush to defend Parenteau from Boroweicki when Parenteau was in no danger whatsoever.

Subban then didn't just skate in and tie up with Boroweicki, he charged at him and ended up being thrown to the ice and the ensuing scuffle resulted.

Now Boroweicki being described as this big heavyweight is outweighted by Subban by at least 12 lbs!!!

The end result is Subban lost a fight he initiated against a smaller player, enough said.

I have no clue why star players try to get involved in scrums with 4th line players..... this is the result, cant really fault neil or the other guy for accepting a free pass to take liberties on a few good players that decided to mix it up in a scrum. hilarious.

Lol @ the trolls. So Ottawa's fourth line isn't supposed to play their rough style when P.K. & Patches are on the ice???? Is Colton Orr supposed to play like a cream puff until another tough guy comes on the ice?

Boro is a fighter, he's trying to earn a spot/make an impression in a pre-season game. Good for P.K., even Boro & Ryan commended him post game.

I don't see either of Ottawa's scrappers (Montreal's either) going %100 here.

The whole thing is very entertaining.

It's embarrassing to watch guys drop the gloves and start punching players who still have their gloves on.

Pretty sure both guys gotta drop the gloves before you start throwing punches. Otherwise all the teams are just going to send out their plugs and have them start punching the opposing stars and they both sit for 5 mins. Get your face ready Crosby, there's a new strategy to shut you down for 5 minutes, and it has nothing to do with playing hockey :shakehead

I didn't realize that 4th liners aren't aloud to fight 1st liners, even if they start the fight.

And Boro didn't want to fight Subban, he was busy with another player when Subban grabbed him, and Boro was ready to end the fight, he let go of Subban but Subban kept pulling him away wanting to keep fighting, so Boro said okay and punched him.

So if there's a scrum near Anderson tonight, and Prust drops the gloves and starts punching Karlsson.... That would be ok?

You can shove and pull all you want in scrums, but you shouldn't be throwing punches with your gloves off until the other guys agrees to the fight or drops the gloves. If a 1st liner drops the gloves and decides to fight a 4th liner, that's fine. He shouldn't have to drop the gloves because the 4th liner is already punching him.

Look at how upset they got last year when Prust beat up Michalek.

I would say yes. If Karlsson inserts himself into the scrum and is physically involved with another player, I see no reason for a 4th liner not to give him the business.

You really seem like the only one upset in this thread right now

It seems like a common theme with the Habs, try to get tough, when their bluff gets called they cry for repercussions. Just like when Bourque grabbed Orr by the neck from behind when he was already locked up with someone and expected cherries and ice cream in return

I actually think Subban was pretty solid there, specially considering he was fighting a guy who's job is to fight in the AHL.

I bet you weren't saying that when John Scott was going after Kessel last year

The Atlantic is a pretty tough division. Boston, Ottawa, Toronto and Tampa to an extent all have a lot of grit and some good scrappers. Montreal needs some more toughness if they want to survive physically in the division.

The Habs will be alright. They went to the Eastern Conference Finals last year beating the Bruins in the process while the Sens were not even in the playoffs.

Good job Sens.

Habs have been trying to injure Lehner all game. **** that ****. I don't care who is an AHLer and who is a superstar, they need to put them in their place. And they did just that... again... When will the Habs ever learn?

Its embarassing that Habs can instigate fights with sens players and then Ottawa fights back and they are the bad guys. Patches goes after Neil and gets on him Neil fights back, remember a couple years ago when Turris didnt drop the gloves but your hero Subban did and kept hitting him while he was on the ice? didnt see you calling that dirty

Same goes for Subban and Boro, Subban comes in and Boro gave him the chance to stop but he didn't and they fought. Boro doing his job and hes the dirty one when he doesnt start a fight and doesnt even go hard during the fight.

Yea Ottawa was the bad guys here

2 of these teams are not like the others.

They would cry for suspensions and call the Habs classless. You can't expect much from this kind of Boston/Ottawa fans.

I only want to see one thing tonight, I don't care if we lose 7-0, it's pre-season. I just want to see Prust/Tinordi go after Karlsson and see how Sens fans feel after that.

so what are hab fans doing right now? its funny because your not even watching the play, your just seeing two hab players trying to be tough and they get it shoved right back at them.

Youve certainly shown that you have high class compared to other teams here

15 seasons holy cow! How far can we go back to make our arguments work?

3 yrs, 4 yrs, 5 yrs, 10yrs,, 20yrs. Its pretty even history between the two teams on making the playoffs in the last two decades with Ottawa making it in a few times more. Just because ottawa missed last year, does not mean they will not have a shot at it this season. it is dumb to equate them with toronto who as made the playoffs once in 9 years.........
