Wendel is assigned to the GTA line. Has nothing to do with Willie.

oh right he will be calling marner next year, should he not have a contract at the beginning of camp.

Who will be calling Matthews? who is our best US born player?

If a call from an underwear salesman is "too much pressure," maybe he's not cut out for this market.

Borje's not wrong. Nylander does risk the chance of ruining a good thing. He knows as much as anyone what it's like to be beloved here.

Do we really want outside people influencing Maple Leafs...for good or bad?!?

I really don't like this and it was f***ING STUPID to go public with this.

"hey Austin you should sign a contract eh!"
"don't be such an idiot here"
"Good one Matty, good one"

*Auston Matthews with a cellphone up to each ear*

"Auston, it's Auston. You know you need to sign the contract. Do it now!"

"But Auston, I don't know, what if I can get an extra 1 million dollars a year?'

"Auston, think of the bigger picture!"

How do you know Salming is outside and why are you triggered by this?

When Salming says "Sign!". You don't question anything. You just sign.

WTF?

This is nuts.

Kind of embarrassing too.

exactly, he's for the most part he's seen as the pioneering Swede for the NHL, and as such is still revered in Sweden for his accomplishments...it's like Liljegren said in an interview about his Swedish influences "I was a huge fan of Lidstrom and try to play like him, but we all know who Borje Salming is and what he meant to Swedish hockey"

It also doesn't hurt that Borje is still very active in Leafs alumni and the Swede NHL Alumni, his word carries a lot of weight

I always loved Salming.

I don't know how much of an influence he will have under the circumstances though.

Nice sentiment but Salming isnt the GM, he should be staying out of it and the Toronto front office should be telling him that as well.

Michael runs the show in that household. If you don't think he's heavily involved in this stuff your kidding yourself.

I'm aware that was the case when they were kids, but if he's still controlling their lives now when they're grown up and in their 20's, that's a bit weird. Do you have a source saying that's still the case?
