Please realise that teams hardly ever trade stud Dmen with #1D upside when they're still on their ELC, especially in a flat cap league.

Boeser has a big contract and will want a huge raise. You will get something good for him no doubt, but I doubt you get a Byram level prospect.

How the shit does Boeser have a big contract? Have you even looked, sounds like you don't have a clue what your talking about.

I mean that it's not an insignificant caphit. Most teams would need to make other moves to fit him in. The size of his next contract is the big question though.

You are using double speak.

Potential #1D Byram has a MUCH BIGGER question if you use the NEXT contract as your argument.

#1 D Byram could demand 12x his current contract !!!!!

For a 1st line W, no team would even scoff at 5.87 million, calling that a big cap hit is asinine.

His QO is 7.5 million for his next contract, yep that makes it more risky, but even so if he continues his progression it would be relatively standard.

Why? He is currently at just under 6. He is a very good winger, who probably peaks at 30-40 goals/70-80 points. At most he is looking at a 2 mil raise on his next deal.

7.5 on a long term deal for Boeser would be a win for him and the Canucks in my POV.

If you compare it to Marner, Panarin etc. sure but realistically, I'd say it's a standard contract for a player of his ilk.

In a few years cap will go up again, $7.5m for a 1st line defensive responsible winger who can play the point on PP is..... A good deal.

You can say that about Mackinnon. It doesn detract from his value!

Winnipeg
OEL beats Schmidt, even if his contract is worse, and Poolman, as a RHD that can play steady defensive minutes, beats Edler, who seems to have brought down his shut down pairing and may have been in freefall. Even if it's a draw, I think the shutdown/defensive abilities of the two new comers beat the two they replace, which is more fitting.
I agree with this. The Canucks upgraded this summer but it was costly.

is this the new Raymond Ballard and a 1st?

Nah, I haven't seen anything like trading your own players for your own players like we have proposed in this thread because of a typo by an innocent bystander.

Jost, Barron/Hellenson, 2022 1st

With the caveat that it would have to be clear the cap is stagnating, and that Miller has priced himself out.

And the double caveat (Canuck fans) that I believe Jost still has another gear to kick into, AND that I might be higher on Helleson than others, I personally may be interested

I disagree, I believe Hamonic and Hamonic have equal value, they have the same contract, have the same stats, same age, same experience.

There literally isn't two players more similar than Hamonic and Hamonic.

Prove me wrong.
Actually your analysis highlighted one things I forgot. His contract is actually worse now. You inadvertently proved Hamonic is worse than Hamonic.

Just out of curiosity, what are you pegging Miller, Horvat and Boeser at?

Let's go full stupid and say 8x8 for all 3. That only adds 7 mil to our cap. Between the 3.5 in dead space this year, and 2.4 next year coming off the books, as well as Ferland's LTIR and a rising cap over the course of those deals, I have no idea why people think there is an issue keeping these guys?
You also have new deals for Rathbone, Hoglander. The Ferland LTIR never really effected the cap from a fan perspective so that doesn't change anything. The dead cap 2. whatever and you have to make up 7 plus sign young coming off entry level deals. Something has to give.

You guys had one of the worst defense's in the league. Demko was amazing but trading for a PP specialist on the decline and a third pairing guy on Winnipeg isn't going to fix that.

Garland's sweet but your top 6 was already good.

Ha, that means it was a great signing, because Hamonic is better than Hamonic, we let go of the bad one!
