Actually your analysis highlighted one things I forgot. His contract is actually worse now. You inadvertently proved Hamonic is worse than Hamonic.
Cheap Hamonic hasn't played hockey for a year and is likely very rusty. Worth it to pay a bit more for expensive Hamonic who will be able to step in and perform from day 1 rather than wasting half a season.

You also have new deals for Rathbone, Hoglander. The Ferland LTIR never really effected the cap from a fan perspective so that doesn't change anything. The dead cap 2. whatever and you have to make up 7 plus sign young coming off entry level deals. Something has to give.

We have 2 years before we have to sign Horvat and Miller. There are 6 players signed on our roster at that point, and we have $50+ mil open. There are endless opportunities/situations that can come up between now and then. Cap will be up a bit by then as well. Really not too concerned at this stage, not even in the slightest.

Andersson for Boeser straight up would be interesting. Ras is signed for 5 more years at 4.55 per and is basically prime Edler reincarnated.
A prime Edler reincarnated on the right side? Damn this could actually work and really improve our team. He's signed to a great deal as well if he's as good as your saying as well. Pods could take Boeser's spot in top 6. Sounds great to me but would Flames consider moving him?

Tough to say, would open up a hole for us RHD wise which we don't have any prospects immediately banging on the door for. But all of Valimaki, Zadorov, and Kylington have experience playing their offside so they might consider it to add scoring punch that's still a RFA. Boeser would really help our top 6 be more formidable.

Ras wasn't great last year but no one on the team was. The two years prior he was very solid. Skates well for his size, booming shot, holds the offensive blueline extremely well, puts it on the tape of the forwards breaking consistently, and is physical enough in his own zone to break up the cycle. Probably will never be a #1 but at 24 still has room to grow into a good #2 or great #3 guy.

Thanks for the great write up. Sounds like a player we could really use and if Pods comes as advertised we could be in position to move Boeser for another need.

This is purely wishful thinking of course. I'll try to believe it though.

The contract went up so the the value went down. Hamonic is worse the Hamonic.

But Hamonic also has a year more chemistry with the team than Hamonic.

I think we underestimate how a veteran Hamonic would be after a few years of uncertainty with COVID. Hamonic should be performing better than the Hamonic that is struggling during COVID issues.
