He'd be 33 when the extention kicked in but only since the move from Atlanta has he played that hard game meaning of his 10 years the 1st 3 weren't that tough on the body. Dang thing is he keeps getting better too.
I'd have no qualms about giving him a 5-6 year contract @ 7.5-8 & go longer if need be to bring the average cost down.
Right now the Jets SC window is wide open & if Chevy plays the cap right should remain so for about 5 years. If those 5 years include @ least 1 that brings the Cup to the 'Peg I could live with paying Wheeler the $s playing way down the lineup in a limited role as he helps the new captain Scheifele keep the winning attitude going.
