Most American hockey fans, frankly dont really understand defense very well. When you read poster's posts on defense, it becomes pretty obvious who has/hasnt ever played the sport before.

Mueller is a good ''Defensive'' defenseman. Even Lovejoy was a good one (when he wasn't being used against top lines and on the top pairings), but he's up there in age now. Andy Greene was a really good one before decline.

Santini really is not.
