TSN: Betting site says Leafs' Carlyle is most likely to be first coach fired

carlyle will be fired promptly.

it's not even his fault. he's just a victim and is caught in the crossfires.

he's been given a shLt team to work with, so what exactly can he accomplish with a group of under-achieving bums?

If he's been given crap pile to work with, then how exactly can he be expected to magically turn that crap pile into a winning team?

Wow, you are so out to lunch on that one it's not even funny. I highly doubt the Leafs roster is the worst on paper in the league, ergo there is something for the coach to work wiht. Carlyle was getting somewhere after the Leafs made the playoffs in 2012/13, but he hasn't done anything since then. The team continues to get pressed in their own zone, RC has no system in place to rectify that.

The coach is not a victim caught in the crossfire, he is at the center of the problem. The sooner you realize this, the better.

Wilson had no goaltender to work with. He had a rookie James Reimer at the end but that's about it.

Gustavsson, Raycroft and Toskala. I mean, how can you be competitive with goaltenders like that?

Totally, heck he even made McArthur and Kulemin 20+ goal scorers.. WTF are ppl talking about? Carlyle should be held at stake as much as the players.

Part of Wilson's problem was also how smug, arrogant and unlikeable he was.

You are so out to lunch - Komarov was a key guy in 2012 he was allowed to leave, Fraser was key - he injured his knee and never recovered, Clarkson was a terrible player RC was forced to play, Bolland was his new Komarov but played one month, Reimer was replaced by Bernier despite playing great in the playoffs... etc etc.

Stop blaming the coach for the lack of intelligent hard-working players on this team!

If a coach loses players of the "quality" of Fraser and Komarov and and can't recover from this, he shouldn't ever be allowed to coach in the NHL. Geez, he even got a better goalie to boot. He just chooses to operate a "system" that completely sucks. This guy should have been fired a long time ago.

Fraser was a key player? And no one is forcing Carlyle to play Clarkson. Our crappy coach thinks using the same failed system is going to somehow work the 2nd or 3rd time around.

Carlyle has coached all of his teams to bottom 15 finishes in GAA and shots against average since 2008.

It's not an anomaly, he's a bad defensive coach. His reputation of being good defensively was because he had two HoF defenseman, an elite shutdown line, and an elite goalie.

Randy will be here until the end of the year, for bettter or worse. And then comes Babcock.

No sense firing him early when his replacement is already a foregone conclusion.

Do you really think Babcock would come to Toronto? Most coaches and GM's here get tarred and feathered by the media and run out of town. Personally I think he is very happy where he is.
