I'm not going too lie, I totally agree with this post.
This teams #1 goal should be to do anything they can to win the game tomorrow. I hope Claude coaches it like it's a game 7.
You know the Penguins will come out well and will take chances tomorrow, they have nothing to lose at this point. Play our game, be sound defensively and pounce on the risks the Penguins will take, turn them into odd man rushes, get traffic and get into Vokoun's melon.
Ending it means rest, while the Kings and Hawks beat each other up. Losing means having to go back to Pittsburgh, where yes we have already won 2 games but winning 3? I dunno. All of sudden the pressure and the whispers begin.
I know I'm being negative. I can't help it. 2010 has left a scar that will never go away.
I think the slippery slope that is blowing a 3-0 series lead seems much more obvious when you don't have home ice advantage in the series and the threat seems more imminent sooner.
When it was against Philadelphia and you lose game 4, it's kind of one of those situations where you're like, "Well, it was a road game and it's not that big of a deal because we have game 5 at home." Game 5 at home should be a huge advantage and the best opportunity to close the series out, so complacency could set in. Game 6 there's a lot of pressure, but you still have the "safety net" of having game 7 at home.
If something were to happen this series past game 4 (which is an unbelievable opportunity to close things out at home), game 5 is a road game right off the bat, where the opposing team has a good chance to build some momentum. Game 6 is at home, true, but you're feeling that pressure of a looming game 7 on top of having to do it at home in front of a nervous crowd (if something goes wrong in game 6 early, all the energy could be sucked out of the building pretty quickly). Game 7 on the road would just be a nightmare.
With the Bruins already being in this situation, they know the task at hand though. I just don't know how they'll react to the change in venues in different games if something goes wrong.
