We’re six weeks from deadline, yet posters want to bubble wrap players for several months without any knowledge of actual offers.
There is no D asset available at this deadline that meets Chiarot’s traits the market seems to be seeking - size & grit combo + recently proven 23TOI+ top pairing playoff performance w/o sheltered minutes + expiring very affordable AAV + 30–years of age vs others who are 35+

Those characteristics combined w significant # of suitors who view themselves as contenders (Avs, Cgy, NYR, Leafs, Fla + others) gives rise to strong potential for the winner of the sweepstakes to overbid

People are acting like he’s gone for the season. They might even be keeping him there longer as a safety precaution.

I said three weeks trade Chiarot, get a first and run. A first is good return on Chiarot.

Claim Tinordi when he was on waivers. Get some size and toughness in front of your net. If we going to lose, better to lose with toughness. That way teams can come in and embarrass us.

I get the opinion management hasn't changed a bit. Same as Bergevin no common sense.

Trying to squeeze an extra fee games out of Chiarot. He's the better player but season is toast. Makes no sense.

There has to be a good reason as to why they haven’t moved him yet. Difficult to judge without knowing on what basis they’ve been negotiating.

Lets compare McDonagh to Chiarot in many different areas because I feel they are both physical types.

McDonagh (Age 32) Vs Chiarot (Age 30): Stats this year with Chiarot not playing with Weber. This is why Chiarot is getting a lot of attention. He's providing McDonagh value where some other fans think he is just some fringe top 4D and belongs on the bottom pairing. Nonsense

Many people who actually know hockey and watch the games where they are not obsessed with points, know why Chiarot is a valuable playoff asset. Definitely a player you want to play with vs against.

Some will focus on his giveaways/60 vs McDonagh but if they do, here is some more context compared to others...

* Trouba is at 1.91 giveaways/60
* Klingberg is at 3.11 giveaways/60
* Ekblad is at 3.02 giveaways/60
* Muzzin is at 2.92 giveaways/60
* Provorov is at 2.72 giveaways/60

I’ve always felt Chiarot’s deal should mirror the Muzzin trade - 3-components including 1st + two prospects including a grade B / B+

Muzzin was not trending as well when he was traded but he also game with one extra year of term I believe. But yeah, Chiarot should return something close. Maybe a 1st and grade B+ where it's 2 pieces vs 3.

The more teams wait to trade, the more they accrue cap space for said trade at the TDL.

Muzzin is admittedly the better player. I think a return similar to what Toffoli got. Still annoyed that was all we got for Tofu.

He quietly has 7 points in his last 6 games. Heating up at the perfect time

Glad that we didn't sit him like some posters suggested but it's time to move him now. He's at peak value.

Chiarot is the player that proved that most of the player takes here are BS. The board consensus we he is a plug. I won’t forget the cringy takes.

Great player, who is only getting better.
