Hopefully, our new front office isn’t as panicky as this board. Yes, you move players well before trade deadline if you can. But everyone knows the highest value is at the deadline when multiple teams are bidding for meager assets.

Not necessarily, over last several years many of the contenders have preferred setting the market reference 1-month+ prior to deadline. Dubas does it almost every year

What can you do, it happens. No team will healthy scratch a player for months just to protect him from injury. You also don’t know if we got good offers for him.

Lot of people foresaw this happening, not really surprising with the way injuries were happening. Wish they traded him while they could.

We’re six weeks from deadline, yet posters want to bubble wrap players for several months without any knowledge of actual offers.

Why waiting so long to trade Chiarot? I know you want teams to overbid, but it can bite you in the ass.

Potential trade partners don't want to make the trade this far from the deadline on a UFA because of fear of an injury. They only have so many trade bullets in the chamber (only one 1st round pick each year to trade). They have as much to lose as we do and are better off waiting until closer to the deadline to mitigate some of the risk.

You don’t need to wait until the deadline to trade him . You sit him and tell other teams we’re trading him , what’s your offer

We're not sitting on Eichel. You think teams are going to bid on him for a playoff run while a healthy scratch for two months? At this distance from tradeline, teams have multiple trade partners. They're not going to commit to Chiarot yet. Everyone wants the best deal, so they will wait to see what the market value is before overpaying. Injuries also happen both ways, which is also an advantage for the Habs. We all saw what happened when KK signed with Canes. Suddenly, Dvorak became a first round pick. AZ was laughing waiting for the phone to ring.

In any case, this depressing board is the usual. If he's traded two months early for a lesser package than equivalent player at the trade deadline, then everyone will call that a mistake. After decades of complaining, everyone here got the front office they were clamoring for, which I was hoping would result in some people finally stfu. But no, a normal part of the game is called a mistake. And that's why the Habs will always fail, disconnected fan base creating unrealistic expectations and feeding frenzies.

Pretty sure a deal could have been made, Chiarot can still help team to solidify a playoff position or help them go higher in the standing...
