He really is. Should finish the year out in Ottawa. I’m going to assume that final call up will be used in him in a week or two.

Almost the same could be said about Norris, Brown, Balcers, Brannstrom, Chlapik, Wolanin and even Formenton. Not all of them are "too good for the AHL" but they all could play in the NHL as of right now. However, we know it's contextual because :

- year 2 of the rebuild, not really looking to win, have the luxury to cook prospects longer.
- it's easier to graduate when playing with a vet of Mark Stone caliber for example, but that ship has sailed so it's more cautious to bring them in slower.

Several prospects got extended looks this year, learning the NHL pace and gaining experience, but when you think of it only Paul and Hogberg have fully graduated. Jaros has graduated too but only technically. I love the approach, it's a responsible way to bring prospects in during a rebuild, not throw them into the wolves. As a result, several will be ready next year (Norris, Batherson and Wolanin should be there most of the year and graduate and possibly Brannstrom, Brown and Formenton). No idea about Chlapik's future though.

The B-Sens have scored 221 goals in 59 games (3.75/GP)

Dear Mother of G

In comparison (I know... NHL vs AHL)

Leafs 3.51, Bolts 3.50 this year

Since 2000-01, only 3 teams did better (NHL) :

Tampa Bay Lightning (2018-19) : 3.89
Washington Capitals (2009-10) : 3.82
Ottawa Senators (2005-06) : 3.80

Now AHL

Toronto Marlies (2015-16) : 3.87
Hershey Bears (2009-10) : 4.27
Chicago Wolves (2007-08) : 3.75
Then a few teams in 2005-06 and 2006-07

What is very impressive is that B-Sens scoring leaders are mainly rookies and 2nd year pros... and yet several guys missed some time due to call-ups and injuries (Batherson, Brannstrom, Wolanin, Brown, now Norris...), they could have been even more of an offensive juggernaut. Just imagine having Wolanin and Brannstrom all year

It's getting sick!

Already said but Formenton has been a revelation this season and proven to just about everyone that his game translates better than most.

Maybe we all should have see it coming given his style but I bought in to the narrative about him not being a good enough scorer even though I thought he had a decent shot.

His playmaking has taken a step forward and with another off season of training and getting even thicker?

Oh my...

I have liked Formenton all the way .. He 's done great just has to keep it going , keep growing his game. If he can really learn to snipe watchout.

Formenton now 6th in scoring and slowly catching up to Norris for the team lead.

Who could have predicted that Formenton would raise his AHL game to elite level this quickly?

Literally no one saw this coming. His offensive potential was highly suspect for good reason - but he was consistently given the benefit of the doubt throughout his career (WjC member and early games with the Sens) so maybe we should have given him more credit.

Hes going to be a phenomenal pro player though. I'm picturing a guy that can plug in on top line one day and be a perfect gritty complimentary top 6 player. He can score 60pts in his prime with the right players, no doubt for me.

The best part of this all is that they're learning to win and grow together. This isn't just 2 prospects surrounded by AHL vets - this is our future core.
secondary core? Future will be the players drafted this year.

I still think Formenton ends up a 3rd liner at the NHL. But maybe that's a 3rd liner on a contending team and a 2nd on a non

Could be. I could also see him as a top liner (on a non contender maybe)

Lafreniere
Tkachuk
Formenton
Paul

Looks pretty good on the left side

If we don't draft someone to fit in that 1/2 hole .. Formenton is 2nd on my projected depth chart... I think he'd be an above average 3rd liner that can move up the lineup, PK and play in 4 on 4s and 3 on 3s

I am sure there are some things that can be dissected here but .. still very impressive

And Abramov was 70-16-13-29 in his first year pro (20y/o szn) which compares well with Pageau (20 y/o szn)-dzingel (22 y/o)-Hoff (21 y/o szn)'s first years as pro

Looking at 2nd pro year of this cohort:

Abramov (21 y/o) 47-18-20-38 (61 point pace over 76 game season)
Pageau (21 y/o) 46-24-20-44 (73 point pace over 76 game season)
Dzingel (23 y/o) 66-12-24-36 (41 point pace over 76 game season)
Hoffman (22 y/o) 76-21-28-49

The production seems the be there, really feisty player and good fore-checker. And he is what, the 6th best forward prospect? Crazy depth in Belleville
