I don’t understand the Atlanta talk with him.

Why would he go from a situation of not having a QB to a situation of not having a QB?

That’s not how you chase greatness.

Yeah the division is bad but you’re not competing for rings. He needs a more win now ready team

They aren't in a position to draft. QB either, unless they trade up and mortgage the future.

Thats why if there was interest with Washington, I could kind of see it.

Don’t kid yourselves, Belichick interviewed the Falcons. They didn’t interview him.

He doesn’t seem like the person who is not going to choose somewhere specific because of the quarterback. He’s going to pick the place that seems best based on the braintrust structure, and the quarterback will be a bonus.

That's actually a good point.

If you're Belichick, would you rather go to Atlanta, an organization that cares about competing given Arthur Blank doesn't usually settle for mediocrity? Or would you rather go to LA, where Dean Spanos is too much of a cheapass given he let Tom Telesco hire three coaches, somehow each more shitty than the last and stick around for a decade despite continually wasting what is an upper class roster on paper and only 3 playoff appearances?

Atlanta is right there. Underrated defense, emerging pieces on offense. Even the QB situation isn't that dire given they're picking in the top 10 and there's a couple guys on the market that probably elevate them enough to be a playoff team (Russ, Cousins, shit even Justin Fields probably gets them in this year if they were to replace Ridder)

Imagine Bill doing the Dirty Bird dance

Also, I’m sure Arthur Blank is going to write a big enough check and give him full control of duties.
But he may have to cut back on customer service at Home Depot to cover that expense...oh wait never mind... they don't spend any money on that to begin with.

Who knows what truly motivates Bellichik at this point? If his main goal is to break Shula's record, coaching in the worst division in Football would make this more feasible.

How can you say that's the worst Div in football when every team in The NFC E Div is golfing and every team in that Div but the Giants are probably shopping for a new coach.

He had the same henchmen in place. Teams don’t want the same old, same old, even if the head guy is a retread.

"
Whenever he was asked about Belichick's failed candidacy prior to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Blank always spoke respectfully about the coach with nearly a half-century of experience. "A living legend," Blank called him.

What Blank didn't say is that he and his top lieutenants had voted on the team's next head coach, ranking each candidate.

Bill Belichick didn't even finish in anyone's top three.

The greatest coach of all time hadn't come close -- and that was as close as Belichick would come in 2024."

I wonder if they were the same top lieutenants who decided to go with Arthur Smith 3 years ago instead of Raheem Morris
Went with the hot name OC. Pretty much the trend in the NFL. I get it for teams with young QBs as that provides your team stability in the "OC" role for the QB. Stroud likely to lose his OC if they have a good year. And not every person who moves up, like Dorsey picks up where the prior OC leaves off.
Obviously, not the case with ATL with an aging Ryan.

I remember watching the the Boston CBS channel like 20 years ago and they had a segment where Belichick broke down film. He spent what felt like 10 minutes discussing first 2 seconds of a snap entirely talking about a good block from the right tackle.
