The Knights were very active on the free agent market with a flurry of signings. GM Brisebois explained his signings: "Well first we wanted to build a core here and we're starting to do that, we're going for players in their prime and signing them for 2-4 years to see if they are a fit and then if they are we can keep them here longer if they wish to stay. There is a lot of turnover right now but as team we're 2 years old so we don't have a core built up yet we're building the team around Gagne but that takes time and during that time yes he needs guys who can play with him but we also want to be tough so that people don't go after him. We went out and we signed some french players not only cause they're french but also cause they're good hockey players and we want to give them a chance to play. We see something in them. Again I am trying to establish a core and improve our team. We are taking small steps, this isn't something you can rush. Our goal for the summer was to find a #1 goalie and we found that in Frederik, he's here for at least 2 years. We also added some good prospects who didn't sign with their team and that's like adding free draft picks."

On this year's team: "We want to improve of course, Simon Gagne has joined the coaching staff, we have brought in some new talent, Eriksson and Lethera are going to help us upfront. We think Connor Garland is going to surprise a lot of people and we're really excited about him and Gagne. Things are getting better and the best is yet to come."

The Knights are once again expected to struggle but Gagne and Garland are the bright spots,
USPW_438514.jpg

goaltending should be solid however there is a lack of depth and firepower upfront and the defence crop is rather shallow. The Knights will have rookies Connor Garland and Kevin Gravel making their debuts as we start to get a look at the future of the team.

BERGEVIN OUT, MASYK IN, SUBBAN GETS NOD
MONTREAL - After a frenetic search for a new GM following Marc Bergevin's sudden retirement due to "family issues," Montreal Canadiens Owner, President and CEO, Geoff Molson, announced today the appointment of James Masyk, Jr., as Executive Vice President and General Manager. The relatively unknown James Masyk becomes the 18th General Manager in Canadiens history. Masyk's first official act as GM was to appoint defenseman P.K. Subban as the 29th Captain of the Montreal Canadiens. Defenseman Andrei Markov and forward Max Pacioretty got the nod to wear the 'A'.

MONTREAL - Posting one of the worst goals for in the league, Canadiens GM James Masyk sought to address his club's scoring woes by trading for a pair of elite wingers in Czech Martin Havlat and Slovak Marian Gaborik. Shopped by the Canadiens boss was ailing winger P.A. Parenteau and underperforming center David Desharnis. Also traded at the deadline was blueliner Alexei Emelin for Zybnek Michalek, largely for salary cap flexibility.
Masyk's trade acumen proves effective, as acquisitions Gaborik and Havlat lead the team in points at 70 (Gaborik) and 56 (Havlat), respectively. Posting similarly impressive seasons are Tomas Plekanec (56 points) and Brendan Gallagher (31 goals). Also posting career highs are center Alex Galchenyuk (47 points), defenseman Jeff Petry (35 points), pivot Lars Eller (33 points), defenseman Tom Gilbert (29 points), and winger Devante Smith-Pelly (22 points).

MONTREAL GM CONCERNED ABOUT PRICE INJURY?
MONTREAL - Montreal GM James Masyk refused to speculate on netminder Carey Price's durability over a 70-game season in a press conference Monday. "Price is one of the best goalies in the NHL and I have full confidence in his ability to make 70 starts a season." The Canadiens GM would not attribute Price's early playoff injury on the workload.

MONTREAL - Injury woes continue to plague the Montreal Canadiens, especially starting netminder Carey Price, who was forced to sit a number of games this season. Also worrying is winger Brendan Gallagher's post-concussion syndrome, keeping him out until mid May, and center Alex Galchenyuk's concussion, with a similar timeline.
In light (or perhaps in spite) of this, GM James Masyk was once again active at the trade deadline, dealing a pair of first-round picks and defender Tom Gilbert to the ailing Philadelphia Flyers for elite winger Jakub Voracek. Also dealt were aging winger Martin Havlat, bottom-six forward Brandon Prust and a pair of prospects for depth scoring forwards Riley Nash and Brad Boyes and depth defender Thomas Hickey.
Montreal was able to improve from last year's scoring woes, jumping from last year's 28th in Goals For per Game to 8th league-wide, largely due to the acquisition of Voracek, who posted a career high in assists and points. Also recording record milestones are center Alex Galchenyuk (29 goals, 45 assists, 74 points, 82 games played), Max Pacioretty (41 assists, 81 games played), P.K. Subban (54 assists, 66 points), Tomas Plekanec (30 goals), Jeff Petry (8 goals), Riley Nash (14 goals, 18 assists, 32 points), Lars Eller (16 goals), Nathan Beaulieu (2 goals, 27 assists, 29 points), Devante Smith-Pelly (17 assists, 27 points, 82 games played), Dale Weise (9 goals, 12 assists, 21 points), Andrei Loktionov (10 goals), Jarred Tinordi (3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points), and rookie Sven Andrighetto (4 goals, 7 assists, 11 points, 37 games played).

2016-2017 Season Preview

images

Offseason

The Flames had sufficient money to spend in free agency after resigning all their RFA's, other than Mark Stone, and their UFA's. So this year, GM Brant King knew he had this last season to prove his worthiness of an extension. His team had to make it to at least the conference finals so he decided to sign a big name UFA. His name is Ryan Kesler. Considering the fact the Flames got manhandled by the Kings in last years first round, King knew he had to get tougher while also adding skill. This signing accomplished both. The money was a little much, but isn't it always for UFA's?

This was Kings only signing in the 2016 Offseason.

Name | Current Age | Years | Age After Contract | AAV
Ryan Kesler | 32 | 3 | 35 | 7.000M

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

images

Even though Brant King was brilliant in signing Ryan Kesler, once again his first priorities were resigning key core players. Youngsters Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau each inked new deals, as did Aleksander Barkov, Marcus Foligo, and Jacob Trouba. Veterans Anotine Vermette, Matt Belesky, and Mark Letestu also got signed to their respective deals. Here is a full chart of the intelligent resignings the Flames GM made :

Name | Years | AAV | NTC?
Sean Monahan | 6 | 3.500M | LNTC
Johnny Gaudreau | 3 | 3.275M | NO
Aleksander Barkov | 5 | 5.400M | NO
Marcus Foligno | 7 | 2.950M | LNTC
Jacob Trouba | 4 | 3.900M | NO
Antoine Vermette | 2 | 2.350M | LNTC
Mark Letestu | 3 | 1.500 | NO
Matt Belesky | 2 | 2.050 | NO

After the Flames loss in the 1st Round of last years playoffs, GM Brant King expressed his disappointment in secondary scoring and goaltending, along with the grittiness he fixed with the Ryan Kesler signing. So, he got right into action after the initial FA signing period by trading for John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks, and Daniel Sedin, Ottawa Senators. The divisional trade between Calgary and Anaheim raised some eyebrows, but if anyone can pull off this type of trade it would be Brant King.

[trade] To Calgary | To Anaheim
John Gibson | Ondrej Pavlec
| Vincent Trochek
| 1st '22
| 2nd '19 [/table]

To Calgary | To Ottawa
Daniel Sedin | Rights to Mark Stone
| 3rd '19

Both these trades fit exactly what Brant was hoping for when he went out to acquire these players. Both these trades have upsides too. It's not like he just went out and got a 4th line player who can shoot, or a veteran goalie that'll do thyem good for 1 year and he's done. Daniel Sedin solidifies a Top 9 role along with the possibility of stepping up if that opportunity arises, while John Gibson is a long-term solutions in net for the Flames.

Season Preview

Forward Preview

With a forward group largely unchanged by GM Brant King, the new names will have all eyes on them.

Daniel Sedin will be depended on to lead the bottom 6 group to a more offensively minded game while also maintaining the defense this core has been know for the past 2 years.

Ryan Kesler will have sky-high expectations having to live up to his 3 year 21M$ contract that he has. He will be expected to improve apon last years statistics while also leading the PK Units to sucess.

The package of Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau will be expected to once again develop into top flight scorers. Their rotating duo of wingers, Wheeler and Kessel, will be expected to not only continue to produce but also lead the youngsters to the promise land.

Antoine Vermette is the teams 3rd line anchor, having improving power-forward Marcus Foligno by his side. Last year, these 2 (combined with Matt Belesky or Vincent Trochek) formed the most dominating 3rd line in the whole NHL. Now, having Daniel Sedin as their other winger should only improve their game.

The 4th line has never been a strong point of the Calgary Flames, but this years looks especially strong. Brandon McMillan plays like he is a veteran of 20 years while he has a grinder with one hell of a wrister (Belesky), and a longtime 4th line player (Letestu) by his sides. This line has the potential to be one of the better 4th lines in the league.

LW | C | RW
Kesler | Barkov | Kessel
Gaudreau | Monahan | Wheeler
Foligno | Vermette | Sedin
Letestu | McMillan | Belesky

Defense Preview

The defense group once again features changes for the second year in a row with 2 new rookies jumping right into the stampede in Calgary.

Mike Green is in the last year of a 3 year 18M$ contract and he needs to improve in the playoffs if he wants to be resigned. His Regular Season success is unquestioned, but his Playoff success in questionable. If Green wishes to remain in Calgary he needs to find a way to be a Top 2 denfenseman in the Playoffs.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic is the defensive veteran on the Flames blue line. Not only does he come at a cheap price, but he actually performs in the Playoffs. Vlasic has expectations to be a mentor for the rookies of the back end and also form a formidable defensive pair with whomever is his partner.

Jacob Trouba and Travis Hamonic are both young defensemen who play well beyond their age. Trouba is a finesse d-man who can get rough in his own end if he needs to, while Hamonic is the exact opposite. He is a rugged d-man but can dangle, snipe, and celly if he needs to.

Darnell Nurse and Robert Hagg are the 2 rookie d-men that will have the most pressure to perform. these guys really are hyped for their own great seasons but it is understandable if they aren't perfect right off the get-go. GM Brant King might not be as understanding if these players careers in Calgary might already be on the line and this is only their 1st season.

LD | RD
Trouba | Green
Vlasic | Hagg
Nurse | Hamonic

Goalie Preview

The goaltending is Calgary has been completely reconfigured by GM Brant King. The Flame snow have a legitimate Elite Goalie, something they haven't had since Mikka Kipprusoff retired. Joni Ortio now has a spot on the NHL Roster, as the backup goalie, when he was just on the trading block during the draft. John Gibson is expected to start 60-65 games considering his age and abilities, so the Flames could really make a push for the Presidents' Trophy this year.

There is 0 goalie controversy in Calgary now, as the Flames look as though they are now set to become a legitimate contender.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

images

UFA's and Expiring Contracts

This offseason shall not be a struggle for the Calgary Flames. Mike Green is their only UFA and he has elected that he would prefer to stay in Calgary as long as they have the sufficient space for him to stay. Mike Green should get around 5M if he gets an offer in Calgary, while on the open market he'd get around 6.500M.

The only other NHL Roster Player expiring contract the Flames have is rookie Robert Hagg. Depending on how he performs, the Flames could decide to let him receive an offer sheet and get picks to replenish their pool after all the recent trades to win.

NEXT UP, 16-17 TRADE DEADLINE AND SEASON RECAP...

After starting the season with a 2.30 goals per game ratio and a losing record through the first 13 games, the New Jersey Devils used their free cap space to send Anaheim Ducks RFA, Jakob Silfverberg an offer sheet worth $2.4 million on a 1 year contract. The Anaheim Ducks did not match the offer, thus, giving up Silfverberg for a 2nd round pick.

-- With a lot of young players expected to step up and get roster spots this year, the Devils signed bigger contracts for older veterans to reach the cap floor. The thinking by management is that they'll help the younger players along on the ice and in the room, and if the Devils are not in playoff contention come trade deadline, they'll move the contracts for picks or they'll keep them in the lineup if they are in a playoff position.

The new "contract notes" category will be for (made up) contract breakdowns on longer term deals. I wish EA would add this in their GM modes. Yeah, the AAV may be $5,000,000, but maybe he's making less money in the final two years and you have more creative situations in trades and whatnot, like we just saw with Pronger-Arizona.

Haven't played much of GM mode this year. Can anyone help me add Eichel so he appears in the 2015 Draft?

Create him, before putting in his birthday, change his pro team to "none" and then proceed editing everything else. Then add him to a CHL team. (For PS3/360)

Right away when I go to create a player, I try to edit his pro team, and it doesn't let me. Didn't touch the birthday at all. It gives my EASHL players stats. Anyway to fix this?

Change the birthday to an older year, go to another tab, then back, and then fix the pro team.

I'm assuming you're on previous gen.

2016-2017 Trade Deadline and Season Recap

images

Trade Deadline

With his team flying high sitting 1st in the league, GM Brant King saw that his team didn't need any drastic changes. That being said that doesn't mean he can't give the prospect pool a boost. The partner in trade, Florida, and the player could be a franchise cornerstone.

To Calgary | To Florida
Matthew Barzal | Sam Bennett
| 1st '17

The Flames get rid of a prospect, Bennett, who didn't look like he was going to pan out. Along with that, the Flames also shipped off their 1st Rounder in this years draft (17). In return for that disappointing prospect and the 20-30 1st Rounder, Mr. King got Matthew Barzal. Barzal is listed as a center but with his subpar faceoff skills, he will most likely be place on the wing whenever he joins the big club. Theres no question what the Flames gave up to keep him so the headscratcher is; whos spot will he take?

Calgary got one other deal done. This deal confused a lot of people as with the Flames pushing for a cup, they downgraded their center position...

To Calgary | To Toronto
2nd '18 | Antoine Vermette

This trade could really come back to haunt the Flames in the postseason, so Flames GM Brant King had to do some damage control with the fanbase.

This deal is solely for age purpose. Everyone liked Anotine, he was not only a great guy; but a great hockey player too. His play was very disappointing compared to last years and we have Nick Petan and Brandon McMillan just waiting to get bigger roles.

Season Recap

-The Flames finished with a record of 49-24-9 for 109 PTS
- 109 PS were good enough for the Presidents' Trophy so Calgary is your Presidents' Trophy Winner!
- The teams offense was potent, finishing with 256 GF (2nd) and a PP% of 19.41 (9th)
- Meanwhile the Flames defense wasn't as good having a GF of 216 (8th) and a PK% of 80.84 (19th).
- The Flames earned a matchup against the Nahsville Predators in the 1st Round of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs!

1st Round '17 Playoffs

Series Preview :
The last time these 2 teams met met in the Playoffs was 2013-2014 when Calgary eliminated the Preds in 7 games to advance to the 2nd Round. Many changes have been made since then so this series could prove to be an exciting one.

CGY | NSH | SERIES
5 | 4 | 1-0 CGY
3 | 4 | Tied 1-1
4 | 3 | 2-1 CGY
4 | 1 | 3-1 CGY
2 | 0 | CGY Wins Series 4-1

Story of the Series :
The Predators proved less of a match to the Flames than the last time the met. The Flames changes to get tougher while remain skilled seems to have payed of as the tables have turned; they are the men, and the other teams are the boys.

Series Recap :
Once again Nashville would see a 1st Round exit, served by the Flames. This series was a landslide, not even a challenge for the Flames team that looks poised to make a Cup run.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

images

2nd Round '17 Playoffs

Series Preview :
This was also a series from the 2015 NHL Playoffs to remember. Calgary came out on the wrong side of this matchup last time, but GM Brant King has built this team way better suited for the grind of the Playoffs. Will that matter against Vancouver; a team that is in the Flames head?

CGY | VAN | SERIES
1 | 2 | 1-0 VAN
5 | 1 | Tied 1-1
5 | 1 | 2-1 CGY
1 | 2 | Tied 2-2
3 | 0 | 3-2 CGY
2 | 1 | CGY Wins Series 4-2

Story of the Series :
Vancouver never had more than 2 goals in the 6 games they played and they only got a total of 7 goals. That has never been and will never be a recipe to win, and the Canucks were easliy shut down by Calgarys strong defense and goaltending, while their offense took the the rest of the way scoring 17 times.

Series Recap :
The Flames got the sweet revenge they wanted when they knocked out their bitter rivals in 6 games. You can see this Flames team really has one of the better defensive systems in the league in from of all-star goaltender John Gibson. Once again another "easy" series wins for the Flames and they are on to the Western Conference Finals.

Western Conference Finals (3rd Round)

Series Preview :
This series is expected to be one hell of a battle. A team that is experienced and has won a Stanley Cup and made the Conference Finals 2 of the past 4 years. The Flames have little to none their experience so Brant Kings well constructed team will have to come out guns a blazin ' to get inside the Blackhawk's heads.

CGY | CHI | SERIES
1 | 3 | 1-0 CHI
1 | 2 | 2-0 CHI
3 | 2 | 2-1 CHI
4 | 3 | Tied 2-2
2 | 1 | 3-2 CGY
5 | 2 | CGY Wins Series 4-2

Story of the Series :
On the fly lineup changes turned this series around quickly for the Flames. They couldn't score in the 1st and 2nd games then with 1 rotation of wingers everything changed. Kessel was moved off the Monahan and Gaudreau line and was replaced by fan-favorite (and captain) Blake Wheeler. That one little switch turned this series from what looked to become a sweep, into 4 straight wins for the Flames.

Series Recap :
In the end, experience was proved to not matter as much as everyone thought it would. The Blackhawks never scored more than 3 goals and they only hit that mark twice. The Flames got above 3 goals twice. That was the difference in this tougher, hard fought series.

Stanley Cup Finals (4th Round)

Series Preview :
John Gibson, the Flames young all-star goalie will now faceoff against a proven all-star in Carey Price. In this series, goals should be at a premium. There is no questions both these teams have the defense and goaltending to win it all, so the question is, whos offense will prevail?

CGY | MON | SERIES
4 | 1 | 1-0 CGY

THE CALGARY FLAMES ARE YOUR STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

Story of the Series :
Much like the past 2 series, when the smothering Flames defense and the spectacular play of John Gibson kicks in, the opposing team can't buy enough goals. Vancouver had 7 in 6, Chicago had 13 in 6 (good but not good enough), and Montreal was the worst having 4 in 5. You cant win when you don't even get a goal per game.

Series Recap :
The Flames dominated the Canadiens possession wise, and it showed because Calgarys offense scored 12 goals while Montreal got a mere 4 (3x!). This Stanley Cup Championship is well deserve by all the players coaching staff, and most of all GM Brant King for constructing a team that dominates the game defensively and outscores teams at will.

Conn Smythe Winner : John Gibson!!!

Next GM mode I'm actually going to give myself a challenge by not doing the 85% trick on top players to sign them for cheaper. I've already done it in this New Jersey one, so it'll be the next one.

TRADE DEADLINE

It was the perfect storm on deadline day, as the New Jersey Devils were securely in a playoff position and a certain team was shopping a star defenseman due to an internal budget, pending UFA status and completely out of the playoff race. This team?

The Ottawa Senators. The Senators' owner and GM had made it known to the media that they weren't going to be able to fit Erik Karlsson under their budget and into their cap picture and it would be best for both parties to get a maximum return for Erik Karlsson... and there were plenty of offers for the superstar defenseman, one of them being the New Jersey Devils, who were looking to acquire an upgrade on D and a 3rd line center.

And after hours of working on a deal, constant back-and-forth with the Ottawa Senators, a deal was made in the final hour, just squeaking in at the 3:00 PM deadline that sent superstar defenseman, Erik Karlsson, to the New Jersey Devils.

SEASON WRAP-UP

Despite the month of March seeing star players like Cory Schneider, Noah Hanifin, Jiri Hudler and Adam Henrique go down with injuries, the Devils scratched and clawed their way into a playoff position, helped by Henrique, Hudler and Hanifin returning before the end of the season. Unfortunately for the Devils, starting goaltender, Cory Schneider, suffered another major injury in a 3rd consecutive season which saw him out until late May, not returning unless the Devils made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Devils were forced to rely on Mikhail Bulakov and Keith Kinkaid to hold the fort in net for the month of March and into the playoffs...

NHL ENTRY DRAFT

The New Jersey Devils do not hold a pick in the 1st round, and do not pick until the 55th selection in the draft. The Devils are either looking to acquire a 1st round pick or acquire a young goaltender and roll with a 1A/1B situation in net as the Devils have not been completely happy with Schneider's reliability in crunch time, as he's gotten injured 3 seasons in a row. On top of that, Cory Schneider's contract ends next season, so it's not dumb to assume that Schneider will eventually be trade bait by next season's trade deadline if the acquired goaltender performs well.

WE HAVE A TRADE...

PLAYOFF RECAP
MONTREAL - With first-line center Alex Galchenyuk (concussion), 30-goal-scoring winger Brendan Gallagher (concussion) and All-Star defenseman and captain P.K. Subban (wrist sprain) out an estimated 3 weeks and 40-goal-scoring winger Max Pacioretty (broken nose) gone for 'at least a week,' the Montreal Canadiens would limp into the postseason hoping to rely on strong play from Voracek, Gaborik, Plekanec and of course Price to carry them past a statistically superior contender in the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Game 4|MTL|2-3| TBL

Strong play away from the Bell Center combined with a dominant presence at home in Game 6 was enough to upset what most considered the best Cup contender in the East.

Continued MVP-worthy play by Price would be more than enough to defeat the Florida Panthers in 5 games, who had a valiant effort despite playing far ahead of their weight in even an injury-riddled Canadiens roster.

The Canadiens hoped the return of Gallagher, Galchenyuk and Subban would give them a shot at revenge on their 2013-14 Eastern Conference Finals rivals, but it was not to be. A dominant performance by Lundqvist and the stingy defensive system that elevated the Rangers to the best Penalty Kill and fourth-best Goals Against in the league staved off Montreal's up-tempo transitional game and the Rangers would advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in three years.

With the 34th overall pick at the 2016 NHL Amateur Draft the Montreal Canadiens selected Tri-City Americans defenseman Brandon Carlo. "Brandon has the size and skill to be a top-4 defenseman at the NHL level," Canadiens GM James Masyk said afterwards. HERE AND THERE
-Ottawa starts the season very strong with a 7 game winning streak that is snapped with a 4-3 loss to Carolina. During this streak, Lehner puts up a .931 save percentage.
-20 games into the season, after having the Senators almost give up on him at multiple stages in his development, Lehner (26yo 84oa 4.5R*) is finally proving to be the elite goalie that Ottawa hoped he could become. With a .937 save percentage, he leads the league, and his name begins being inserted in early Vezina talks. For comparison, Lehner had an .876 save percentage last year over 18 games, .915 the year before, and .914 the year before that.
-McDavid is having his first huge season in Arizona. He is second to only Stamkos in points with 31.
-Konecny has put up 13 goals in 20 games which is good for 6th in the entire league. This appears to be his breakout year.
-Unhappy with his undisciplined play on the bottom pairing, Ottawa swaps Borowiecki with Calgary for Kris Russel. Russel is slightly older, and a UFA at the end of the year. Ottawa throws in a prospect to sweeten the deal. The feeling is that Russel who is a puck moving OFD will mesh better with Gravel who is a DFD on the bottom pairing. The days of Ottawa attempting to use their bottom pairing as a highly physical shutdown pairing look to be over.
-Once we reach the trade deadline, it appears that trading with Ottawa seems to be fruitful, both Edmonton (acquired Hammond) and LA (acquired Cowen) are in playoff positions after missing the playoffs last year.
-Lehner is having a breakout year. He is second in save percentage behind Marchand (NJ's former 1st overall pick, taken ahead of McDavid). Ottawa would like to obtain a goalie at the deadline to act as a backup plan if Lehner were to go down as they aren't confident in Gustavsson.

BREAKING TRADE DEADLINE NEWS: VETERAN SHARKS HOSSA AND ANDERSON SWIM BACK TO THE SENATORS

Ottawa Gives
-This year's 2nd round pick
-Next year's 3rd round pick
-Last year's 60th overall pick 3.5* D Cole Candella (Unsigned prospect)
-Jonas Gustavsson (82 oa 32yo backup goalie 1 year left)

San Jose Gives
-Marian Hossa (39yo 85oa 1 year left at 8M)
-Craig Anderson (83oa 36yo 1 year left at 4.2M)

The Senators were able to address their trade deadline needs with a single trade. The Senators re-obtained two veterans who both are former members of the team. With three goalies signed to 1 way deals, Anderson who might be the best goalie in Senators history was traded to San Jose 4 years ago for draft picks. He helped San Jose make a run and reach the conference final. Ultimately, the original Anderson trade lead to Ottawa having the draft picks needed to trade up from 11 to 6 and nab their current franchise centre, Travis Konecny.

Hossa was unable to be re-signed by Chicago due to cap issues, and instead signed a 1 year 8M deal with the San Jose Sharks in the off season. With the Sharks season not going well, they were open to selling off both veterans at the deadline.

Thus far, Hossa has 19 goals and 40 points in 58 games. Anderson had a .914 save percentage as San Jose's backup.

Hossa will find himself in the bottom 6 and will provide depth in the chance that one of Ottawa's key top 6 players go down with an injury. Anderson will return to Ottawa and serve as a confident 1B goalie if Lehner goes down in the playoffs.

TEAM RECORD: 54-22-6
-Ottawa finished second in the entire league behind division rival Tampa Bay.
-Konecny lead the team in goals with 34, Karlsson in points with a whopping 96.
-Duncan Keith had a career year with 61 points and a +41 rating. That was the second best +/- in the entire league.
-Turris was a clutch player, he had the third most game winning goals in the entire league with 10.
-Shane Prince had 10 goals and 34 points in 79 games in Dallas, while Brett Ritchie the player Ottawa acquired for Prince put up 9 goals and 28 points in 66 games. Both had similar production, but Ritchie brought a physical edge to Ottawa's bottom 6 that Prince was not capable of.

-Tampa Bay's Anthony DeAngelo leads all NHL rookies with 46 points.
