Phone hearing have a maximum suspension of five games. In-person has no limitation.

There have been in-person hearings without any suspensions. Pacioretty on McDonagh for example.

Ah ok, it's still a max of 5 but I don't know if any 5s have been handed out over the phone recently. Most suspensions are 3 or less.

Yep, which would suck because not only do I like him more than Holden, Wilson, Guenin and the current Benoit, but his experience would be quite useful in the playoffs.

Roy said Sarich would have been ready by the NY road trip but figured to just give him through the break. There could have been a set back but the last update was that Sarich was on track to return.

Sarich is steadier than Holden/Guenin/Wilson. Doesn't panic and is better at getting the puck out. He's very slow, but so are the others.

Hopefully it's just a fine. Even a fine is a joke IMO, that play happens every game. I went back and checked and in the last five years there have been only two suspensions and five fines for slashing. Four of the fines came in the 2011-12 season, and all the plays are clearly an intentional slash where as EJ's was clearly just a routine action to break up the play.

I think it's better than bankrupting the players. Kind of like if you had to pay a $10 fine for littering. It might not be a lot of money to you but you would hate it anyway.
