You know three of those moved in from elsewhere right?

But no more Raiders! That's addition by subtraction.
Sure.
Never been a Raider fan. Sure do feel for them having their team yanked out twice from underneath them though.
I still go to A's games even though the place is a dump

It can fairly be argued that Kane has more value now than when acquired by SJ because he is signed long term,

I can also be reasonably argued his value is not as high as SJ fans would like because he carries a high cap hit long term and plays a style that may shorten his productive years. Further to this, it can reasonably be argued that for a team tight to the cap as San Jose is, cap space acquired in trading Kane counts as an asset in return for Kane in addition to the players/picks acquired(both through that trade and the ones who can now be acquired/kept because of the extra cap space).

Kane has value because he would improve almost any team to which he is traded(assuming they don't overpay); Kane doesn't have the value some Sharks fans think their players have and they won't improve if they keep thinking they have a roster full of Hart Trophy candidates and only lose because luck/refs/magic/coaching.

There is a middle ground. Nobody's getting Kane/Hertl/Meier for bargain bin prices. The Sharks aren't leaving the basement until they change something.

Kane's value to the Sharks is likely going to be higher than it is to other teams for the simple fact that the Sharks don't have depth up front. So when you only have four forwards that you can depend on to be your top six players, trading one of those forwards requires that you address that top six depth concern otherwise you are breaking even at best or making a weak spot even weaker.

So unless your offer has a top line player at a cheaper cost or there's two top six quality wingers as part of the return, there's no point in the Sharks making that deal. They don't need to cap dump Kane since he actually provides tremendous value relative to his cap hit plus he only has three teams he'll accept a trade to so the suitors are limited by default which lowers his overall trade value. That lowers the likelihood that the Sharks trade him. The guys they will be looking to trade, even with limiting trade clauses, will be Martin Jones and maybe Brent Burns when it comes to big money contracts. Everyone else either has full NMC's for this off-season or they simply cannot afford to trade him due to the value they bring to the team.

I don't mind discussing trades for guys like Hertl and Meier as big money guys they could trade due to not having those clauses but that offer has to meet certain requirements to even have that discussion due to their immense value to this team.
