I would consider Bowers over Kaut, but I don't believe Sakic is interested in moving his top 3 prospects; Byram, Newhook, and Timmins.

Hopefully there is still a deal to be made, but I would certainly understand Wilson digging in for a player with extensive, fair term left on his deal.

Colorado were strongly rumoured to be considering trading the 2019 1st for Kreider, but wouldn't move it once they knew they could get Newhook.

With Newhook having a good season and being a year closer to the NHL, and Kreider being a deadline day UFA instead of having a full season left, I highly doubt Sakic is even considering that one.

Needless to say, Sakic wouldn't trade Newhook at the draft for a full year of Kreider so there's absolutely no way he trades Newhook for Kreider now.

I believe the COL pick was to obtain a 2C. Sakic was either smart or lucky, dumping Barrie for Kadri and Newhook fell into their pick. Kreider being a Winger was never a consideration and even less so close to UFA.

Thornton and Marleau might not be a fit but...

That was almost 20 years ago and Bourque still put up 59 points in his 2nd season for us. Complete apples to oranges.

Avs forward are fine, the guys not named MacKinnon just need to play better and to their potential. If there are injuries, I'd rather have guys like Kamanev, LOC, and Tynan slot in than old guys like Jumbo and Patty.

Thornton and Marleau have 10 goals combined this season.

Well Marleau can still play in a depth role on a team built for speed. Thornton, no but Marleau is different. He can still skate.

I'd say Marleau would be a fit in the bottom 6 for the Avs. He's still got bursts of speed but his hands are pretty hit or miss. Jumbo, no way.
So Marleau for a 3rd or something like that.

Seriously, please keep him. He’ll be a great role model on a sinking ship that has $42m tied into 5 aging players for the next 5 years.

At least when he skips out on paying casino markers next time...it won’t be during the middle of the playoffs.
