Ceci on the Leafs would be hilarious. But how are they going to pay him? Doesn't that leave them in basically the same position as with Zaitsev? His QO is like 200k less than Zaitsev's cap hit.

Just means they need to trade us Kadri in exchange for a lock of Bednar's silver mane, IMO.

Any chance any of our guys in the system make the jump to the avs this year? Greer, Saigon, Kaut, etc...?

Timmins, Kaut and Byram are physically mature enough. We will see how they do in the training camp. All three of them have a chance to make Avs lineup this season.

Greer should finally play in NHL, but Bednar dislikes him due to penalties taken as someone else said. Saigon is a big question mark.

Over the course of the season Greer could well earn a consistent look on the 4th line, Meloche could start staking his claim to a 3rd pairing spot, Byram could not look out of place, and either Kaut or Bowers could make their case for bottom 6 gigs...but none of that can be relied upon to happen or penciled in. Those are potential happy discoveries when injuries hit us rather than actual solutions.

Kamenev is the only kid who wasn't a regular last year who looks ready to be a regular this year...not counting Makar, who became a regular as soon as he joined the team...but the question with him is if he can survive for long enough to really show what he's got over any kind of significant sample size.

So... what are the chances Toronto flat out walks away from Cody Ceci? The Senators qualified him IIRC, does that mean Toronto has to abide by that?

Would be hilarious if Toronto traded Zaitsev for Ceci, only to walk away from Ceci thus trading Zaitsev for free.

Even if they only have to deal with one year of Ceci it is still a win lol.

Something like that is the smart play, but watch them give him a 4 year deal.

Colorado in on Bobrovsky? Contenders with cap and need a goalie

With the way that Grubauer played after settling in and Francouz looked in the AHL...having been phenomenal in the K before coming over to prove himself in NA...the avs need in net is for an experienced #3 who could deputize adequately. Someone like former-Avs Calvin Pickard or the Hamburglar.

Yeah I just don't get the point for the Leafs to move Zaitsev for Ceci.
Ceci is a RFA; Zaitsev has 5 more years. It would basically be a way for Toronto to get out of Zaitsev's contract for free. Ceci on a 1 year QO would be much easier to shift onwards.

That said, once they'd done that, they'd have to make moves to acquire a RHD, in exchange for Kadri...
