I just realized Point is on his last year of his ELC.

That might be too rich for Tampa. Off season trade maybe.

You mean of other players right? And not Point?
I mean something has to happen if Point wants 10m. They are up against the cap.

They have that tax advantage, and could use Kucherovs contract as a comparable, but it's still going to require some moves.

Already reported that he’s willing to be flexible with a deal to stay in Tampa. He’ll get bridged.

Oh yeah he does. Maybe a buyout?

Always amazes me how that team has that contract on it.

Matters if they win the cup or not this season, definitely could see him waiving if they do, if not it’d be tough not to consider getting the extra cap space they need.

Sure but being flexible might mean 9.5, not 10.5.

Some players take less money, but not much less, and at the end of the day, his agent has a lot to work with during negotiations.

If he hits 100 points, I can't imagine his contract starts with an 8.

Not when Matthews just got 11.6, and Tavares got 11.

Eichel got 10, with a bad injury history, and a career high of 64 points.

No he said flexible on years. Said he was open to 2, 5, or 8 year contract. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes the bridge route to help win a cup.

If he signs a bridge the number won’t be that high. The point of a bridge is to lower the AAV. He’ll either sign a long term deal around 9 or do what Kuch did a couple seasons ago.
I still can't see him taking less than 9 on a bridge. Not with the way the market is right now.
