But I thought he was going to take a bridge contract and leave millions on the table so he could help the team win a cup? That doesn't happen any more.

There’s more players than point in this situation. EK has been rumored to want to join the lighting if he goes to FA then they need to get some cap space to add him or maybe another FA that they want to replace Miller with.

They're going to struggle to make room for Point, so adding Karlsson would require a miracle, or a huge re-structuring of the team. Point is on an ELC, so let's say he signs for 10m, well now Tampa needs to find 9m somewhere. Adding Karlsson at what 11/12m? Now they need to find 20m somewhere.
