Seems to coincide with the Jones benching. Nah...couldn't be. :sarcasm:

No, that had nothing to do with it. The first goal was on the PP and he went hard to the net instead of getting too cute and passing it to someone. The second goal was a rebound and McLeod was one of his linemates so it's not like he was put on a line with better players.

How come our defenders ice the puck all the time in even strength but can't ice the puck when they have the chance on the penalty kill?

That's Sacco's Super System #14 or SSS14 for short.

They've added assists for PAP and McGinn on the first Stastny goal.

PAP and Duchene are each at a PPG, so there's that.

I believe they'll also add one to Duchene on PAP's empty netter.

Avs found a way to pull off a win in a tied 3rd period, but lets face it. We were pretty lucky the score didn't end up 6-3 for the Flames. They made a bunch of horrible turnovers with sloppy play, and the Flames missed lots of glorious chances.

Glad they finally won one, and maybe this will give them some much needed confidence, but they still need to work on a lot of things defensively.

Some of you guys are over critical of Stazz straight up. The negativity towards him, is because of the siege mentality that has built up, and people are only seeing what they want to see.

Stazz was very strong in all areas of the ice tonight (just not on the score-board) until late.

People want scoring from him, so unless he is doing that, he's garbage, which is just a ridiculous sentiment.

That wrap around goal, to this point, is the most important event of our season to date.

Agreed, Stastny although he's had a tough year he's still been very good defensively all year.

And McGinn's explicit love affair with the post has robbed him of at least 4 assists this year, with those assists staz isn't just playing great D, but at a PPG average, despite "only creating one chance a period". We should trade him.

That 3rd goal at the end of the second was all Stastny's fault.

No it wasn't. Rewatch it you will see his two wingers bunch up and run around. It didn't help that our two pillions were cemented in front. Jones was just coasting that whole sequence. No shock he got benched after that.

McDonalds needs to start burying his chances.

Good to see Staz show up. Hopefully the confidence boost carries on.

I got to disagree. I've never bashed Staz, and stuck up for him a fair amount the last couple years, but he was just too ordinary offensively so far this season. We'll see if his two goals gives him some jump and he can get on a roll.

Stastny had a perfect chance to clear the puck and he just gave the puck away.

Please get fired Sacco. People getting mad at the coach a slow footed dman with no hands is icing the puck. People getting mad at the coach guys do something as fundamental as dump and chase when they can't get the blue line. :shakehead
What happens when whatever fantasy coach you have in mind comes in and can't magically make RoB a slick puck handler?
