glad you appreciate it as much as i do! I actually had an ex gf whose dad was an Olympic swimming coach during that year..I think i won that relationship
But yes, that team is/was incredible. Never gets old re-watching Miracle
I've seen people get take anywhere from 2-8 years to get their cards back but the longest I've ever waited was probably about a year. Kopitar and Tavares both took about that long and those were both within my first year or two of collecting. A few weeks ago I heard back from both Bill Guerin and Rod Brind'Amour after nearly a year. For the most part though, I typically safely write it off if it hasn't come back after a year or so.
Check out this article: this is by far the longest wait I've ever heard.
Autographed Card Returned...20 Years Later
I got a few old ones back over the summer that I'm not sure if I posted. I didn't record them here but I may have in the miscellaneous thread that was up at the time. These were all in June, when I was in the process of interviewing for and starting my job so it's honestly a blur, lol. In any case I'll post them again after almost half a year.
Jordan Staal c/o Carolina
Adam Henrique c/o Anaheim.
These were both sent in September so I had assumed them goners at that point. Both were postmarked locally so I guess both stay put for the offseason (Staal's from North Carolina and Henrique's from Southern California).
Chara c/o Boston
I distinctly remember posting this in the miscellaneous NHL thread because I was expecting it to be a longshot for him to return it. I was pleased to find it in my mailbox at the end of my first week of work and surprised that he took the time to sign it about a week after losing in the Final.
My updated puck collection, both signed and unsigned. My dad caught the top one at a Bears intrasquad scrimmage in the 2005 preseason.
Signed pictures I've gotten out of Dave and Adam's random "Hit Parade" products.
Tyler Myers- I actually have two of this exact same picture.
Alex Alexeyev- 2/2 c/o Hershey in 9 days
got a signed ki jana carter penn state jersey and a signed posluszny framed photo last night for christmas. both have coa, one is from bcsports the other is from jsa the witnessed protection program.
it’s in poor shape but personalized to me in a minor way. Am I wrong in throwing it out?
personally i would keep for sentimental reasons. i would put it in a picture frame to flatten it out.
Latest purchase from COMC came today. Not all of them are autographs.
Been a couple weeks since I last visited HF, let alone posted. Got a few updates, three through the mails and four in person autographs.
Joe Veleno c/o Grand Rapids. I sent this one about a week before Christmas without realizing he had been selected to the WJC but it still came back about four weeks later.
Sean Durzi c/o Ontario. Sent in early October; got them back on Tuesday
Barry Trotz c/o Islanders (I think it was the Barclay's address). Sent in mid December and received it today. He included two notepad letterhead sheets as padded protection for the pictures which I thought was cool.
On Monday a few of the Hershey Bears did an appearance at the local Dave and Buster's and I got autographs from each one. There's another appearance this coming Wednesday with four different players and I'd love to go again if all is well.
keep up the good work. i enjoy seeing your things on here, my son collects jerseys as well as cards and i enjoy him sharing his finds/purchases. myself, i collect coins, but have some sports things given as gifts that i enjoy alot.
Hershey had another meet and greet at Dave and Buster's tonight so I went again.
Garrett Pilon (son of Rich)
Riley Sutter (son of Ron), who unfortunately spelled my name wrong.
Kody Clark (son of Wendel)
Matt Moulson was also scheduled to be there and he was my main target. Unfortunately, when I was about five people away in line (the players are all at one table), he got taken aside by a Bears rep and led into the arcade area so I didn't get to meet him. The one attendant said he'd be back but didn't say how long and I really didn't feel like waiting around. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed because he was probably the one I wanted to meet the most.
Obviously no mail for the last three plus months, but
all pulled since then.
Bought the last box of 15-16 Contours at my local card shop hoping for the longshot of a McDavid rookie auto. I almost had a heart attack when I pulled this card, only seeing the Oilers uniform at first
I did pull this, too, though- not an autograph, but the same card sold for $48 on Ebay last month. But I dont have any other McDavid memorabilia cards yet so I'm not planning to get rid of it or anything.
Two other autographs pulled today (the Monday was from a different box, the first non hockey box I ever bought)
I live vicariously through you @Strawberry Fields
Those are some great auto’s you all have. Guess at some point I will have to take a few pics of what I have.
I'm planning on starting a hockey card channel on YouTube within the coming weeks (I actually have the channel up, I just won't open and record until i have proper equipment, which I'm shopping for now). I'm building up stock so I can have enough material to upload semi regularly (the brown bag is a grab bag from my local card shop, I bought all the boxes and tins in pic picture from there). Excited (and nervous) to get going soon.
Here's my channel and first video. Feel free to watch on mute because my voice is awful. I opened a box of this year's Ice for my first video (which, ironically, didn't have any autographs).
SUB TO THIS LAD
I’ll be subbing after this comment. You’re nervous and it shows. Take a deep breath and relax. Just pretend your not recording for an audience, and you’re doing this by yourself without taping it.
Not a bad first video all in all bud. Good luck with the breaks.
And a Beatles reference in the channel name.
Separate names with a comma.
