ARD just had an interesting interview with Hajo Seppelt. Seppelt said, that he has tbe impression that a number of African countries are specifically looking for women with intersex traits. This will happen a lot more often in the future and it will be a discussion as it challenges the rules. So says Seppelt at least.
Not a bad strategy so long as the rules allow it, paying off for Namibia so far, the 200 final is the 6 favorites (minus Shericka Jackson, yikes was that qualifying run ever dumb) and the 2 intersex athletes.
With a good start she can win the gold. Impressive top end speed
I think if she figures out her start and cleans up her uncoordinated technique then she's probably breaking the world record in the 200 and 400 within the next few years. She'd crush everyone in the 400 at Tokyo if they'd have let her run. I just don't think she's quite ready to hang with Thompson in the final tomorrow, who looks like she's ready to drop a 21.4.
Different topic, but the US should really consider altering their trial system. So many of their athletes seemed to have peaked at trials and are running out of gas by the Olympics (sprints at least). Puts them at such a disadvantage that they need to be at their best just to qualify when the Jamaicans for example had the top 3 women in the 200m about a second ahead of the rest of the field at trials and in no danger of missing the Olympics.
