It shouldn't be impossible, but it might be more difficult than we think. The easy part would be keeping the rotational axis and center of gravity the same; but the modulus of elasticity is gonna get you. There should be a difference in the way a solid piece of rubber takes force compared to a puck with a non-elastic core section.

This is assuming they're taking any trouble to keep the weight and density the same. If those aren't the same, and according to Matthews and Spezza they aren't, the handling characteristics could be different enough that even a non-pro player could tell.

i assume your second point is true. I also think most of the energy characteristics of the puck can be reduced to an unnoticed level. Especially with stick advances

In the NHL's statement posted earlier in this thread, they said they've already manufactured pucks and used them in the bubble last year. It seems that the previous batch was fine, there appears to be a Manufacturing/QA/QC issue with the latest batch.

Sounds like they'll be re-issuing new pucks with the tracking technology soon enough.

Are they put on covid protocol for breaking the rules? Maybe no one has covid but they will have to sit out X days for a violation in case there was an exposure. In which case the weekend games may still happen. If they were all positive and there was concern about teammates being exposed then the games will probably be postponed.

they broke the rules. No masks, close social contact at hotel. These are classified as Covid list players. It doesn’t mean they have Covid.

Because they violated rules which caused this they likely won’t get games postponed. There was no positive test or outbreak but these are exposure protocol rules.

Wow. I guess the NHL isn't f'in around if that's just over them violating the policy of gathering in one of their hotel rooms.

C. Middlestadt, no, let's call him "Casey M" from an anonymous NHL team re: Caps' players breaking COVID restriction
"Stay in the hotel room and don't socialize. Those are the rules, and these guys can't do it? This is the greatest job on the planet, but it's sad to see that some people just don't have the necessary drive and dedication to do what it takes to be a functional NHLer. Some of us were born for this."

I was listening to the Soul On Ice podcast this morning and Akil Thomas (Kings prospect) talked about how they were told to stay away from teammates, and most other people, when away from the rink or team facility.

So, I am not surprised that they are trying to crack down on stuff like this.

Friedman was on NHL Network and also talked about how the NHL might look to change their testing. Currently, the NHL tests once every day using a PCR test. The upside is that the PCR test is more accurate than the rapid tests that say the NBA are using. The problem is that they take longer to get results.

Friedman said that the NHL might add rapid testing in addition to the PCR testing.

vodka doesn’t kill Covid.
A BAC of 6.0 or greater will do the trick. In certain parts of Siberia, BAC's as high as 8.5 have been observed. These people are incapable of physically freezing and can be simply stored until Spring. Little known fact: the Tunguska event was actually caused by kids playing with matches in a warehouse packed with people in alcoholic hibernation. The media would like us to believe it was caused by an exploding meteor.
