Or ship one of the useless Greening/Michalek for a PMD instead of trading away a possible future #2 d-man (even if he looks like **** right now).

Michalek makes 6.0 cash this season and is a UFA at seasons end... 16GP 3G... he has no value

Greening's new contract consists of a modified NTC and he has an escalating pay structure where he makes 3.2 in his last year... 16GP 0G so far this season

Do you really think either will bring back something good at this point in time? I don't

TSN (Aaron Ward, specifically) reporting Ladislav Smid has been traded.

Smid to Calgary for prospects.

... Nothing is going to get better in Edmonton.

Trading one of their only good defencemen for prospects, when they are supposed to be nearing the end of their rebuild, when they need prospects, they need a goalie and MORE defencemen...

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, OILERS?!?!?!?!

LOL if the Oilers think Bryzgalov is the answer to their goaltending issues. He is going to be lit up like a Christmas tree over there like in Philly and eaten alive.

This deal doesn't make any sense.

Isn't Calgary rebuilding, why the heck are they trading for a veteran defenseman?

Isn't Edmonton done rebuilding, why are they trading veteran defensemen for mediocre prospects?

Nothing makes sense anymore.

I don't care if you're rebuilding or not... if you can get an asset like Smid, and all you have to give up is Horak and Brossoit, you make that deal.

It's like someone giving you $20 back in change when you paid for a bottle of coke with a $5 bill. Just go with it.

You have to remember this is Calgary though.

This deal probably signifies that they are going for the Cup this year. They are going to be trading their 1st round pick for a rental like Iginla soon. :D

Probably the best deal the oilers could get without taking back a cap hit. It's about the deals that are about to happen.

Oilers-Bryzgalov discussions escalating. Edmonton had to move Smid money to make room for goalie.

 Time to watch them sign Bryz to like 4M for 1year.

Doubt he ever even knew about it.

Oilers got back so little in this deal, I doubt they let more than 2 or 3 teams know about his availability.

... and to a divisional rival, no less!!!

Exactly. Calgary was Edmonton's biggest obstacle to 1st overall again.

What a devious move.
