He had liked a bunch tweets that among other things supported the capitol riots, were anti vaxx, some comments about trans-people competing in sports, something regarding Lebron James and a cop (I'm out of the loop) and so on. Not a great look for any team that hires him.

I literally do not understand the need/desire for people to post opinions on "hot topic" items like this on so-called social media. Especially someone who has a high profile job or works for a high profile company like a sports franchise. But i guess it all goes back to one tried and true concept -- people are dumb. I mean how hard is it to keep your opinions off places that are easily obtainable and traceable back to you.

I wonder if Dusty thought he wasn't really a 'public' figure tbh. Keep in mind he's worked for non-TO-fishbowl orgs for the most part.

Nevertheless I've been preaching that for a decade. If you're going to be in any public capacity, you should simply not be on social media with your name, as it's your 'brand'.

I mean I learned that lesson back in the early 2000s in college when I got to a job interview and the first thing they had printed out was my myspace profile photo of me chugging several beers in a penguin suit

why on earth anyone would take part in political social media at this point is beyond me, especially if you're any sort of public figure

There is no way I would ever want to be a politician. The persistent drama is unrelenting and has to be tiresome.

Same can be said for the "super" athletes who tweet (or someone who works for them) because they have 10 million followers and need their names out there to sell whatever it is they are selling.

I mean I actually think I saw a tweet that said "LeBron likes to eat green grapes over red grapes"

We should absolutely hire Dusty back. The man was some kind of goaltender wizard magician.

I could care less if his twitter account isn't woke enough. Just close it off so he can't use it anymore and slap him sideways and put it in his contract he has to vote for Caitlyn Jenner in the recall.

Of course, his dumb unvaccinated ass will probably die of covid before the season's out.

Still a chance I'd be willing to take.

Big yikes on Imoo, that sucks to hear. Crazy how some people just kind of fall off the rails. Social media was a mistake.

Olympic decision deadline end of the month.

Chaos scheduling NHL with, without Olympics

Apparently it's creating a headache with teams selling tickets if the league goes with the backup schedule. Ie, if a team sold a partial season ticket package with the promise of a certain opponent on a particular date, that would get complicated if things change. I had a road trip mapped out for April 2022 but that'd be thrown out the window if they decide the Olympics are too much of a headache.

If you are going to have a social media account, just stick to business. I can understand why a goaltending coach might need an account, but there is little to no redeeming value in having an account for any other purpose.

It's weird to see this come to light because I was following Dusty on Twitter for a couple of years and had to unfollow him several months ago because of some of the things he is spouting and promoting. It's sad, he is credited for being the #1 person to develop Jack Campbell and get him where he is today. He is ultra-talented, but he is getting too hot to handle and active on that side of things. It is a tragic and controversial side of the age we live in, but it is a reality that all, especially in the public eye, must contend with.

I literally had to do the same with Penner and Nichols, although Nichols wasn't as bad (although now he is...), he just kept causing porn stars to pop up on my main feed which, for better or worse, can't happen on my main feed :P

there were references to Imoo liking racial comments. I wouldn't want someone like that as a co-worker much less in any position of authority.

There is no way someone that does that can be a part of the coaching staff of any team. Especially one that has Byfield and Thomas in the AHL.

Imoo had to go.

It's a controversial topic today, but cancel culture has literally been around since forever, it is just amplified tenfold today because of the digital era and the intimate evidence it produces which is often overreacted to, sure; however, it is now a very obvious part of life. Honestly, it is one of the first things you learn as a public figure. We live in a free-market society with two-way voluntary employment. Frankly, it is self-inflicted. There are consequences if you jeopardize/threaten your relationship with your employer and/or put them in a position to lose money and standing for their association with you.

These people have to know that if you scream crazy opinions into the internet, as a professional from any field, those can have consequences. Especially those unsubstantiated by any other professional, expert, scientist, journalist, etc. There is a place for all assertions in academia if you develop your argument and sway others to your ideals, you can change public opinion the right way, but spouting nonsense into the toilet bowl of the internet for all to see in a crazy manner will cause more to be wary of you than bring more to your cause. I mean, if you're going to vent the darkest reaches of your mind, at least take advantage of the internet's anonymity...

In the end, Dusty is an awesome goalie coach, but he just made himself unhirable. It's tragic, but entirely his own fault.

Nothing more than a giant brain bleach circle jerk where both sides yell at each other like f***ing children, everyone gets their delicate ego bruised, no one changes their mind, and everyone leaves angry.

Above also applies to the main board.
