I would love to knock the Caps out again, but can't help but agree... Washington and Boston mean a bunch of injuries to key players. Would rather face the Leafs and take our chances, than limp into the second round missing Aho and Svech.

I want to avoid the Leafs, just because the headache that would come with dealing with that fanbase would be massive. We've already got Montreal fans refusing to let things go. Let's not add Leaf fans to the mix.

Oh, other way around for me. I'd absolutely delight in throwing Toronto out in the 1st round, and we'd have the rest of Canada rooting for us for once.

People who drive an hour or more to the grocery store aren't "picking up milk". They are the people that have a chest freezer in the basement and are already past the first stage to becoming a Prepper.
My folks bought a freezer in the late 50s. Only 1 car so grocery shopping was limited. Kept it 75% full even tho rare long term power outages would empty it. Finally died in late 90s. My mom hugged it when they took it away. New freezer lasted 14 years...

Similar story for my grandparents. They lived in rural Northern Maine. Nearest grocery store was "in town" but had the equivalent of what would be one row of a grocery store in the triangle. But instead of a long drive to a different town, they stocked their freezer with stuff from their garden (about the size of my lot) and anything my grandfather shot. The amount of meat pulled out of that when their last one finally died would make a butcher nod in approval.

Similar experience in my family. Deep freezer sturdy enough to survive a missile strike, filled with jars and bags of hand-picked fruits and vegetables and iceblock-like lumps of meat. I’m not sure what the endgame was, but I suspect the mindset was rooted in the Depression.

My heart is as warm as a Saguaro cactus knowing that an American from Phoenix, Arizona is by far the best goal scorer in ice hockey

So does the Eichel curse continue as well?

Dallas is up 2 points with 12 games to go. Vegas has 10 games left.

Schedules are about even the rest of the way. The Vegas at Dallas game on April 26th could be the decider.

Our two games at MSG are looming large as we look ahead to the remaining schedule. Looking at the schedule I'd say Rangers have an easier path.

LAK are only 4 points up on Vegas with 1 more game played so they aren't a sure thing yet. No head to head between the two left though. Vegas seems to have a bit tougher schedule with Van, EDM, CGY, WSH,DAL and STL still left to play where-as LA only has MIN, COL and VAN left, in terms of decent/good teams.

Caps getting close to the Pens. Would be crazy if we played the Caps as we thought for a while we might, but it was a 2/3 matchup.

I don't really buy the whole, 'turning it up for the playoffs' thing. Stats clearly show its better to go into the playoffs playing well.

And since the allstar break we are a very average team that has trouble scoring.

Holy crap

We might get invaded sometimes, but I’ve never seen one quite like that. Even Toronto/Buffalo or Toronto/Buffalo doesn’t get that extreme.

This is why when Boston comes to town in anything, I don't go anymore. I've told the story before about Celtics "fans" invading Charlotte Bobcats Arena the first year Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were on their roster and the "fans" were mostly wearing Brady and Red Sox jerseys when the year before there were like 20 of them.

Oh and of course Ray Allen as only he could do hit the buzzer-beating game-winning 3. Yeah I ain't putting up with that shit anymore.

Same thing happened against the Rangers. Embarrassing for the 2 time defending champs.
It's really not that embarrassing. There are a crazy number of transplants from the Northeast living in the Southeast, not to mention it's spring time so a lot of families from up north venture down south as well. Add the fact that southerners actually have things they like to do at the start of spring, you get these type of games. The real shame is that the northeast is mostly a shithole their non-wealthy residents spend years trying to escape, be it permanently or through vacation.
