I agree about playing the Pens or Rags, I think we'd easily beat either of those teams in round 1 but I'd much rather win the division and get home ice. My preferences in terms of who I want us to play in round 1:

1. Caps
2. Leafs
3. Bruins
4. Rangers
5. Penguins
6. Lightning

No chance we play Florida in round 1 so I didn't include them. I think we've solved the Bruins and match up very well against them.

Lightning are "beatable/tired" just because they are tuned out of the regular season since they've had a playoff spot locked up. I still think they are the favorite to win it all and would prefer to avoid playing them if possible, let Florida and TB beat each other up before we have to play one of them...

I'd rather play Rags/Pens than the Bruins but the 1 seed is more important to me than matchup so that's why I have them lower.

Leafs are a joke to me, regular season team with terrible goaltending and despite the close losses to them I think we matchup very well against them.

Caps have matched up well against us but I really think they are very clearly the worst team in the playoffs in the East and would be the easiest draw, plus getting them means we would have home ice until the Cup Finals at least.
Reasonable list....Toronto has stepped up their game recently and smoked the Bolts last night. Of course, their recent playoff history and suspect Goaltending make them a wild card to play.

My list would be:
1. Rangers...our speed is a good matchup...their goalie soft lately
2. Boston....TY demonstrated that our speed make this a good matchup
3. Pittsburgh....dangerous lineup but getting old
4. Toronto....most dangerous offensive lineup in the list but....GT
5. Bolts....Champs...rather play them in round 2 or later when perhaps fatigue after two+ years of playoffs kicks in
6. Caps....see below

with Caps last because I fear their dirty play would knock one or more of our guys out of the lineup.

I definitely would like to see tampa least of all, but there's no easy outs in the playoffs. That's especially true this year with the clear demarcation between the playoff teams and non-playoff teams in the east. Every east series will be tough no matter how the seeding shakes out

Toronto, like early Tampa, is a regular season team. As the whistles are swallowed and play tightens up, Toronto will fall. We have been in the same boat the last 2 seasons but have tried to add more oomph per 60 to get us out of it.

According to this, Tampa is our most likely first round match-up, so, uh, hold on to your butts.

That's kind of like the draft lottery odds of the favorite to pick #1. While TB is currently projected as our most likely first round opponent, that same projection gives us a 70% chance of meeting someone else in the first round.

Florida continues to do ridiculous things. They were down 5-1 to Toronto tonight. Scored 5 straight to make it 6-5. The Leafs did manage to tie it, but Huberdeau scored in overtime for the win.
I want to see them keep this up in the playoffs.

My desire to not root for them was slightly outweighed by my desire to laugh at the Leafs.

In case you was wondering, Rantanen did assist two, is 400 at 400 and joins (in pace) some guys Jari Kurri and Teemu Selanne in Finnish 1PpG NHLers.

In comparison, Aho is 389 points in 433 games and Barkov is 537 points in 585 games.

Aho (176) is ahead of Rantanen (164) in goals though. Aho is also one raw goal ahead of Laine, 175+148=323 in 403 games.

This graph bothers me, because if you're not going to make one axis "Home" and one "Away" with the various odds of each scenario, then there's NO f***ING REASON to have to have the duplicate data...pick one and stick with it, don't do the "mirrored" data (put the logos on the left and bottom in the same order and keep the lower-left data set)

An analytical look on whether its mandatory to go into playoffs hot or not to win the SC. Well....it's not required to be "hot" but statistically it sure indicates that it's important.

Over the last 41 years, only 6 teams (Canadians did it twice....and Canes in '06) have a losing record over the last 15 games whereas on the flip side 22 teams won 9 or more (13 of them 10 or more).

Florida was the cause of two of those losses. Carolina was the cause of one of the regulation ones.

And that’s just this season.

If I recall correctly we're on the wrong end of one of those as well. I remember they blew a 5-1 lead once but they may or may not have won in overtime.

Meh let Washington go maul some other teams star players.

Also don't feel like seeing Ovi on our 7 pks a game. He'd score at least 2 each.

I would love to knock the Caps out again, but can't help but agree... Washington and Boston mean a bunch of injuries to key players. Would rather face the Leafs and take our chances, than limp into the second round missing Aho and Svech.

Those are for camping and days at the beach, not picking up milk from the store.
One summer day you will forget about the bag with the pork chops that dropped on the back seat floor and slid under a seat. The next day your car will smell like *#"+*!! as the juices have been soaked up by the carpet. A cooler will keep this from happening.
