Goose seems to have gotten on his feet a little averaging a shade under 19 min per game
With 2 assist in 4 games. Seems to be paired with Barkov

Goose playing with Barkov is like pairing him with Zajac, a two way forward who can cover for his defense, except Barkov is an elite top center. It’s a great spot for him, players score a lot with Barkov, he should do well there. He might get to stay in the top six since Verhaeghe is week to week, I don’t know when Hornqvist is coming back either.

Looking at their line up Acciari is also out and Bennett is centering a 2nd line with Huberdeau and Duclair.

Someone actually asked this on NHL mailbag lol.

When do you see the young talent being in the Capitals' lineup? Can you see Connor McMichael replacing Evgeny Kuznetsov if he's picked by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft and Martin Fehervary's role increasing? - @irieLife4me

What the f*** are people on making their protected lists? Severson, Bratt and Zacha here. Kuznetsov by some caps fans? AM I THE CRAZY ONE?!?!?!

I guess the thinking behind it is McMicheal is a center and both Backstrom and Kuznetsov have four more years after this on their deals.

I haven’t heard anyone particularly want that to happen before, Kuz is only 28. The Caps, like Tampa, are likely pushing the Washington State-connection to an aging forward, in this case it’s the TJ Oshie. Oshie is 34 but still somehow has 4 more years on his deal at 5.75m. Yikes.

In the last mock draft in the Athletic the Caps beat reporter convinced himself that Seattle would take Oshie while the Kraken beat reporter took... Jonas Siegenthaler. With him gone it’s looks like it’s down to Oshie, Carl Hagelin, Justin Schultz or Nick Jensen. (Or Kuznetsov if they want to go in a different direction I guess.)

I'm just using particular players to illustrate the point of how I see it playing out from a cap perspective. My guess is that Kakko would be part of a trade. Strome is just a placeholder for BUF. I'd expect something like Kakko, a young defender not named Fox or Miller, a first, and maybe Chytil, and then Strome to fill the gap for BUF for a year.
If that’s all it takes to,get Eichel , I hope so either team could out bid that. Hell , I’d like for the Devils to inquire

And certain people here want to trade Bratt for THAT?

Absolutely. Put Bratt on the Jackets and he’d be as invisible and would probably 0 goals instead of 3 or 4 with us. Playing on a team where Torts is in charge isn’t helping his cause at all and the fact that he has no center is the main reason why he’s not posting up the #’s he used to when playing with Scheiffle.

Add the element that everyone is brushing off, almost on purpose at this point, that Jack would benefit greatly by having a guy that can finish plays.

Offer Bratt to the rest of the league and we’re not getting anything significant in return. He’s good here cause our roster is garbage which makes him standout as this legit, borderline untouchable, top #6 forward. He’s an average 2nd line player or a great third liner, nothing more.

Kuznetsov has 4 years left at 7.8m - I could see the Capitals exposing him, thinking that he's not worth that money and that they can do better elsewhere. But I cannot see the Kraken taking him.

Laugh all you want, Jesper Bratt is an unknown to the rest of the league but NJ. What’s laughable is the pedestal he’s being put on by certain posters of this fan base.

There's nothing wrong in calling him a good 2nd line player and a great 3rd line player. What’s wrong is to tag him as a 1st line player, cause he’s not playing on anyone’s first line if they’re actual contenders.

He is a top 6 winger full stop. I don't know how anyone could even remotely argue you this. Actually dense to simultaneously bitch and moan incessantly about Jack's #s then say Bratt's who is on a 60pt pace is a 3rd liner.

Here is the comparison over the past 3 years. Bratt is better in basically every notable category, including CF%, SF%, GF%, xGF%, HDCF%, and HDGF%.

You're welcome for these facts!

I have been saying this for going on 2 years now.

What good is a 30 goal scorer if they are a literal DRAG at everything else?

I love the fact that we have to take context for players on our team for having shit stats but when it comes to players on other teams, context goes right out the window.

Laine's numbers went down his last two years in Winnipeg compared to his first two. It's not all John Tortorella's fault.

That’s because he went from playing with Scheiffle to Little. It’s like going from Nico to Zajac.

There was no way he would be keeping that pace when playing with a borderline top #6 center that isn’t known to be a great distributor.

Did he not play and bitch his way down the line up though?
