Sullivan with the Pens has to be considered a top tier coach. As much as I hate them , the Penguins just seem to find ways to win even if it looks like , on paper , they should get their asses handed to them with all th einjuries and key players they have had out of the lineup the past few seasons. I guess it also doesn't hurt to have a goalie like Jarry who has been on fire this year. I cannot stand him after losing to the Islanders in the playoffs last year... now decides to play good.....

He has to be considered arguably the best coach. For our team in particular there's no one I'd want more

Helleson is RD.

FFS I read that as Helgeson

I forget what prompted it, but I had this memory of a game I attended where Helgeson got caught on a long shift and got scored on. One of those shifts where like you could tell a goal was coming 20-30 seconds before it happened.

After looking up the game, it probably came up after showing up my Facebook memory a couple days ago. Retread heavy game, Tyler Kennedy, Devante Smith-Pelly, Mike Sislo, David Schlemko....and we won the game thanks to 3 on 3 specialist John Moore.

Edit: Out of curiosity I looked up the lineups and it was good for a laugh:

Blandisi-Henrique-Palmieri
Ruutu-Zajac-Kennedy
Boucher-Kalinin-Sislo
Farnham-Gionta-Smith-Pelly

Greene-Larsson
Moore-Schlemko
Helgeson-Warsofsky

Kinkaid

Also forgot I ever saw Lecavalier during his brief stint in LA.

I remember Dano being impressed with how long of a shift Helgeson (and I forgot who else?) got glued in his end for during that game and championing him for it.

They got caught out there because Helgeson f***ing sucked.

I think I hated Helgeson more than almost any defenseman we had back then. He was famous for getting trapped in his end for long periods of time.

Didn't realize his D impact fell off so hard. Be interesting to see if he bounces back on Colorado. If he does that's huge since it'll also make Girard good again. Microstats look good

Manson is a defenseman that used to be pretty good, but I don't think he really is anymore?

In general, team subreddits encourage delusional positivity due to the upvote system. I'm guilty of posting in them too but you gotta put things in perspective.

The Flyers seem to be like us under Hynes, particularly when it comes to their offensive style (heavy on redirects and uncommon but high-percentage plays) and playing like turtles when they have a lead in the third. The result is tons of blown leads and loser's points. Keeping Yeo as the interim coach after firing AV was insanity.

On the Devils sub I wouldn't really say that the consensus is overly positive or overly negative on the whole. It's very day to day. The one constant though is that like 90% of them are kind of clueless

Severson should easily get quite a bit more than one playoff run of Manson.
Hell ya. If we did max retention…. His value “should” be crazy good if you use Manson as a direct comparison. Severson is miles better BUT I think people see Manson as more suited for the playoffs as a gritty shut down guy hence his value was high.

Yea he’s not good anymore
He’s exactly the type of dman you want for the playoffs. A big gritty guy that will clear the crease and throw his body around at a time where penalties don’t get called as often. Getting under your opponents skin is priority #1 in a 7 game series and a guy like Manson fits that label perfectly.

The Habs did great last year with a defense that wasn’t elite on paper but was big and physical. Guys like him, Chariot, etc will get a pretty solid return over a more offensive dman in the mold of a guy like Subban for example.

Wasn't Helgeson also given the nickname "Muscles" by someone here for some reason?
It was “Hulk”.

Not sure how he got that name. Probably because Helg sounds or looks like Hulk and he was big.

Stylistically yea maybe, but when he's on the ice his team gets consistently out shot, out chanced, out scored, etc. I just don't think he's very good at all. Pure "grit" move overpay.
