How is this not a form of cap circumvention? Tampa just traded two players and a pick for two players who will likely never played again and will get cap room + whatever benefit from stashing them on LTIR for the entire season. It's dumb and should have been removed from the CBA in the summer.

By using it in a negative fashion. They are following the rules and using them to their advantage. If they oilers could find ways to circumvent then cap instead of just buying out players we would be better off.

Not really as once your in LTIR territory you have other restrictions. It’s overall better to not be in LTIR territory and have some cap space. Plus they are without Kucherov which will hurt them as teams can really focus on Brayden Point and Stamkos is made of glass, one good check and his core will split open again like an overstuffed piñata. Plus any serious injury to Vasilevsky and they are hooped.

A lot of players probably should fire their representation after this off season. Major part of the reason you have guys specifically focused on sports representing you is their awareness of the league and how things are shaping up going forward. Turns out a lot of these agencies knew f*** all.
