Eh, I’m not sure if one good half year on his forth team means the corner was successfully turned, he scored 21 goals in the first three months and 2 the rest of the year. He was always a problematic stop gap for a offense starved rebuild.wasn’t duclair an all star? surprised he’s not at least qualified i thought he started to actually turn a corner
Unfortunately we are in a rebuild and not a particularly attractive UFA destination so I’m bracing myself for some of these less than stellar optionsEh, I’m not sure if one good half year on his forth team means the corner was successfully turned, he scored 21 goals in the first three months and 2 the rest of the year. He was always a problematic stop gap for a offense starved rebuild.
Unfortunately he tried to negotiate the deal himself so he didn’t have a neutral party to help guide him and let him know when those scum sucking cheapskates were actually making a him a fair offer in plague dollars. It sounds like a shit show but there are a enough minor UFAs on the market that Ottawa should be able to replace him with somebody who might be less entertaining but may occasionally recognize their defensive responsibilities. And, please, no, not Duclair on the Devils. He needs a ridiculous amount of top six time for his even less impressive than it looks production.
Looking at the RFAs released by Chicago I had a vision of who could potentially turn up our third goalie. It wasn’t a great vision.
Solid list. Probably similar for me except I would only offer Duclair a PTO. He has flamed out so many team so I would be wary of offering him a long term deal.Hinostroza (even though he's another midget)
Cousins
Wallmark
Kahun
Koekkoek
Athanasiou
Duclair
Stetcher
Are guys that interest me from that list
IMO there aren't really any UFAs that are realistically going to sign here. Maybe a depth/AHL guy here or there.
Agree. Also we do not know what internal budgets teams have this year. I just do not see much FA money out there. We will find out soon!Depends. There may not be a lot of buyers because of the flat cap, so we have less competition.
Why not? Guys need jobs and we have successfully signed full fledged NHL UFAs even when other teams weren’t cutting back. We aren’t likely signing Hoffman (sorry, it’s true) but the team said they are adding players. If players are open to shorter deals than who knows who we can grab. Cheer up buckaroo.IMO there aren't really any UFAs that are realistically going to sign here. Maybe a depth/AHL guy here or there.
No sure the first two are happening but dream big I guess.Krug, Hoffman and a goaltender. I’m happy.
I can understand, they gave Wennberg a six year deal after he showed constant improvement during his ELC and his offense then evaporated. Specifically his goal scoring, he never shot the puck particularly much but he started shooting it less and his shooting % dropped. The real issue was in 2018-19, the 2nd year of his deal, he shot 0% at 5v5 in 66 games, which is equally incredible and terrible. (He had 1 PP goal and 1 SH goal.) Last season he pulled it up 7.41% at 5v5 for 4 goals in 57 games.Wow Columbus just put Wennberg on waivers for purposes of a buyout. I'm surprised they couldn't trade him. I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him.
