Still boggles my mind that Matthews got a better deal than McDavid (From a players perspective)

Issue there is mainly that McDavid was a $15M player settling for $12.5M.

If you look at models that judge players based on on-ice impact per cap dollar, Matthews grades out pretty well and McDavid is a huge bargain. RFAs on their second contracts have been ridiculously underpaid for years now. Most other contracts struggle to break even, while those are almost all good value.

Marner's contract is pretty much an exception there, according to the same models.

This Avs team is what the leafs should be. All 4 lines skate their opponents into the ground. High end skill with some toughness added in and sandpaper on the back end.

Nathan MacKinnon got absolutely trucked by Zack Kassian, but the Avs, instead of skating away and pretending to ignore it like our guys do, 5'11", 185 lbs Matt Calvert dropped the gloves with Kassian to let him know that they won't stand for their best player getting run.



Would never see any current Leaf do that for one of their own.

So Connor Brown is averaging the most TOI per game out of all Sens forwards which is over 20 minutes per game .. He's 2:30 second higher than the next forward (Pageau). The last two seasons he averaged 13 and 15 minutes respectively.

That's an insane increase
