The main board was it's usual self during the 3-on-3. The sanctity of the NHL all-star skills competition was being ruined by letting female Olympic athletes compete. Bring back the purity of Ovechkin shooting while wearing a funny hat.

I don't get how no one saw it as a test balloon for a WNHL.

The way (I think) to maybe not lose too much money would be to cut roster size, like to 10 skaters (which they had) and possibly do 3-on-3. Of course, I've thought about this stuff a little. Women's hockey isn't built on physicality anyway, and they can do some nice stickhandling, so leaning into that makes some sense.

All Star weekend has become a shitshow. The best thing about last night was the Women 3x3, McDavid Not winning the fastest skater and Al McGinnis smoking that slapper over 100mhp at his age. The rest Mehhhh. You knew Binnington was going to win the goalie comp. Pucks from above a pure stunt. Did anyone expect anyone o0ther than Weber to win hardest shot?

The All Star game is pure fluff. A chance to try trick moves which would be better in the skills comp. No real competition goalies risking injury for this. Why are there defensemen even allowed now its 3 on 3 they played no defense even when it was 5 on 5. Its a friggin week long party now for the star players that's all.

I watched last year's game too when it happened. I'll say the same thing I said as I said then. I think that broomball would be a better game for them. The skill gap would be lessened, they'd be in less danger, and they could goof more since they're playing with a ball.

But chel doesn't have broomball.

That could well be kinda like Binnington winning the goalie comp. Some things are set up for the AS game for sure. Like did any of us expect Weber not to win the hardest shot????? Or league wide in voting how does the home team always put 4 players on the team. Even when they won the cup we could name at least 20 guys more deserving to have been there. The Tkchunk brothers yeah well daddys influence with St Louis did not have any bearing. The best thing about the thing is giving injured players a chance to get back without missing more meaningful games.

Sockeyes is out because of some romance novels, and the internet keeps memeing Kraken.

I'm not sure if it's a legitimately good name or not though, or just a meme. Pretty much what's left from their shortlist is 'Seattle Eagles'.

Will people be disappointed if it's Eagles? Yes. Will people come to regret the name? Probably less than Kraken, but naming yourself after a mythical creature isn't actually that strange. Remember the Titans?

Kraken will also be used against the team, which fans are already doing. Fans? Krakheads. Arena? Krakden. etc.

Change the division name. The Metropolitans is the first US team to win the Cup. It's an awesome name. They can honor west coast hockey. Their color scheme was cool.
