What?
It might have, if Chicago didn't trade Jimmy before Kevin could sign.it didn't help Chicago..
If Iginla signs with the Oilers, a usename change will be in order for me.
Wideman, please feel free to sign with the Oilers.
Also picking up Foo would be really great. He probably truly does have the best opportunity here on the RW.
Iginla signing in Edmonton would 100% tarnish hs reputation as a Flame. If someone traded him there, fine but freely sign a s a UFA? That is a slap in the face to flames fans everywhere and he could go **** himself.
So a guy who's done so much for the Flames and Calgary not just as a player but as a person is suddenly hated because he went to play for a rival, his decision? Seriously let's not get playing for a team tarnish his reputation as a player and person overall, especially since he didn't mean harm playing for Edmonton (Besides that's yet to happen anyways and there is no guarantee it will happen), so let's not even worry about it completely...

I don't think you fully understand the hatred between our fan bases
Eh, Ference wasn't here that long and IMO wasn't even a great player for us but even he went from being loved to hated. With Iginla it would be 10x worse, we worshiped the guy, he was a god to most of us.I'd say it'd be something similar to what happened with Ference.

I think Russell gets a bit of a pass because he signed literally at the last moment and most of us believed he wanted to re-sign with the Flames but due to Gaudreau's contract situation it dragged on far too long and by that point Edmonton may have been his only option to get a decent contract and to be frank, even with how much I liked Russell, he was never a fan favorite like Ference and especially not like Iggy.Yup agree fully. Ference is a good idea of what can happen. But yes, Iggy's fall would be far worse. IF Iggy signs in Edmonton, I'd be willing to think that it literally was his only option to chase a cup, including not being given an option to come chase it here.
Weirdly though, Russell is less than Ference. Maybe because he's set up like the perfect lynch pin to send wheels flying off at the most inopportune moment?
It's been a while, so how about some armchair GM nonsense from yours truly? I know you have been waiting with baited breath

I wouldn't blame Iginla if he signed with the Oilers if it was the only team that was willing to sign him. But if there's options out there, it would change the way I look at him for sure. It would kind of be on the lines of if Ryan Smyth actually came and played for the Flames when they were trying to sign him.
Does anyone remember back in the day when the Flames got both Steve Smith and Grant Fuhr? That was just weird and I didn't really know how to feel about that. It was hard to cheer for either of them for sure.
Yeah, it felt wrong to have them on the team. Even Gelinas and Brathwaite were a bit weird at first, as did Morrison but unlike Smith and Fuhr, Morrison won me over.
I hated that one too, so much so I actually blocked it outYeah Morrison was a good pick up. Bertuzzi was another on that had me scratching my head.
A few people on the Oilers board are saying Josh Marshall isn't reputable at all.
