Admittedly slightly surprised.
Grabner still has it, or at least some it.

ARI needed to shed cap somehow though and I guess this buys them a little.

Grabner generates almost no offensive pressure at even strength. Armstrong wants a more traditional 4th line.

Also appeared Grabner had a mix up with Tocchet that saw him scratched for a long stretch.

Who cares about AAV. AZ also has Hossa’s $5.25M they can place on LTIR. This move Saves $2.5M in actual cash which is the important thing.

I don't think it saves them that much actual cash. The cost is 2.5M in cash and they save 1.25M i believe.

I see him finding a home @ $1M or less

He could sign with cup fav or go to a place like Detroit where he gets moved at deadline to a cup fav thrn.

Grabner still has the wheels and is an excellent penalty killer. He also had 17 goals in 87 games over two seasons in Arizona. Seven of those goals were short handed. I'd take him on the Flyers in a heartbeat.
Yup.

Trade Raffl for a pick, sign Grabs for 1 year 1 million

Grabner Laughton NAK

I would love that as our 4th line next year

$3.35 on the cap, $3.775, in cash. I didn't know Grabner had that contract. Signed it after a 27g/36pt season, and in the following 2 seasons he had 17g/27pt in total. Almost the same amount of total GP though.

Just like the draft, you really roll the dice with these UFA's.

They owe him $832K this year. Over a million the following year. From a cash flow perspective this was a no-brainer.

Don’t kno if the flyers need a bottom 6 forward but Vigneault really got the most out of grabner. I’m sure he can do it again.

AZ had to overpay to add talent to the forward group and get secondary scoring. They had plenty of cap space at that time, cash was backloaded. It wasn't a terrible deal. He did what I expected minus the injuries.
Normal season, I think you'd just bite the bullet and ride out the last year even at almost $4M cash. This year, everyone is counting their pennies, and it opens a little cap and money and pushes it to later.

Would love Grabner back on the Leafs.

I predict Ottawa for him. DJ Smith was a huge fan of his in Toronto.

They just bought him out so he has no salary. HE will be a UFA and can be signed for whatever he wants

He was asking about if the salary was so much that he was then bought out... did you really not get that...?

You're looking at the cap hit not the actual cash. They owe him 1.25M cash this year and next. They save roughly 2.5M cash this season but add the 1.25M next.

Lot of teams will be interesting in him for cheap. My guess is he ends up in Toronto

One of my favourite Rangers of recent times, disappointed to see him brought out and more disappointed that we can't fit him back in here

Hope he lands somewhere decent
