How much AAV does this save Arizona?

could they be making room to add a bad contract?

He's so fast. But when the scoring doesn't click, he just can't do much. And he's never meshed with his linemates.

Good decision, and one Chayka probably wouldn't do.

I think he's going back to Europe/KHL before any other team in the NHL. They are currently playing games there. Maybe he'll come back.

Elite anticipation and acceleration make him incredibly disruptive and let's him generate a breakaway the other direction. He'll get goals, but isn't really an offensive player.
The eye injury hasn't helped. The rest of his game is pretty unexciting, but doesn't hurt you. He doesn't help you cycle in the O zone, not great at tying guys up on the boards, isn't a playmaker. He just does his thing and is exceptionally good at it: He breaks up passes, closes gaps to force bad plays, steals loose pucks and is off to the races if he gets it.
This is a good, smart player that somebody will be very happy with at the right money and right role.

Canucks should bring home their draftee.

Grabner would look nice on our 3rd line

He's 32...wow time flies.

But yes, he skates like the wind, kills penalties, and isn't completely useless with the puck. If he was bigger/more physical he'd be an ideal bottom six forward...and also likely not bought out.
