That 2nd Petey goal last night was all Beauvillier. His effort and tenacity is something we’ve been missing throughout our line up. Beau aggressively forechecks and strips the puck off the Yotes player, gets the puck back and sets up Pettersson.

He’s not making me miss Horvat much at all.

He’s been impressive. The knock on him in NYI was that he’s streaky. I’d like to see a larger sample size but he’s a relatively young guy who is getting a chance to play higher in the line up than he was normally played in NY.
Plus he’s playing with the best center by far that he’s ever played with. We may just have picked up a guy who just needed more of an opportunity.

He's been very good so far and obviously much better than expected. If he can keep this up it's a major win.

Knock on him has been streakiness and inconsistency and that his work rate drops off - so far, that's been very good and he's been very high-motor and there have been very few games where his intensity hasn't seemed there.

That said, he's in an incredibly cushy roster spot given the way that Pettersson and Kuzmenko are blowing up. Easy to look good although he's definitely pulling his weight there.

Would like to see him get a look on the PK - he hasn't been used much there historically but NYI had several specialist PK types like Clutterbuck and Cizikas.

I'm wondering how he'd look like as a center actually. He seems to take to the middle of the ice quite well and seems fairly responsible defensively. I believe he was center when he was drafted but I suppose there's no sense in breaking him up with EP at this point

I actually suspect Beauvilier will be the high salary winger that goes this summer. He's getting the cushiest deployment (similar to Stillman before he went), and will only have one year left unlike Boeser/Garland.

Seems like a good way to piss off Petey. Who's gonna replace him on the top line? Hoglander?

not a big fan if we move him… would rather move Boeser and Garland. If we can re-sign Beauvilier for about what he makes now we should do that. If he’s looking for a big pay day you trade him.

NY is where offense goes to die I have a hard time believing Matt Barzal is only a 60 point player.

Besides, it's a skill to play with good players. That's why Burrows is in the ring of honor

Let's face it.....so far Beauvillier has crested through just about all the expectations for him. Based on his career with the Islanders, the best you could hope for was that he'd approach his career high in goals (21) and be able to move up and down the lineup.

But playing on a more offensive team, his point totals are close to a ppg after only 17 games. And it definitely looks sustainable. And he's still only 25-so who knows what lies ahead?

Has to give you some hope that Allvin and his pro scouts know these players, and that guys like Raty, Hronek and Kravstov might surpass expectations as well.

It's kind of a shocking change, really. We're so used to the Canucks acquiring or signing guys like Dickinson, Beagle, Schaller, Roussel and Eriksson and having them face-plant almost from the day they arrive here.

Not surprised at his success though. He was so good in both of the playoff runs where they were in the ECF. This is a player who was imo rushed to the NHL as well. No AHL time for late first round pick is very rare.

The Isles just choke the offensive life out of their players. Horvat is down to a ~38 point pace with the Isles. He's fallen off the proverbial cliff since being traded (90 pt pace with Canucks).

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if AB was a PPG guy for us moving forward, especially if he continues playing with EP and Kuz, and seeing PP1 deployment. AB was a goal-scoring machine in his D+1 year in the QMJHL.

Would love to pump his stats and move him for a 1st round pick next TDL if we aren't in the playoff picture (though I suspect we might be, and AB could be a key cog for us in that case).

I think this team will be decent next year.

If he continues playing on the top line, I expect to see Petey break 110 points, Kuz hit 80+, and Beauviller somewhere in the 70-80 point range.

I'm gonna take the under on that one. I would say his upside is around 50-55 points, which would still be really solid value for his contract.

Yeah, long-term I doubt he stays on PP1 and it's questionable if he's still on Pettersson's line with Mikheyev is back next year. And even with everything stacked in his favour right now and rocking a career-high on-ice sh% he's still only at a 65-point pace.

If he could hit 50 points next year with his icetime divided between the top 2 lines with PP2 usage that's a huge win.

i think an expiring like beau is probably most valuable at the deadline. if he keeps his spot in the lineup and scores at, say, a 22 goal/50 pt pace next year, that could be a very good asset.

I don't think this team is planning on selling at the 2024 trade deadline.

their cap sheet already looks pretty terrible for the 2024 offseason. might be a real test of the new management group if they're faced with keeping a player they expect to lose in free agency at the trade deadline if they're not clearly in or out of the playoffs

Saw quite a bit of Tito over the last few years. In the bubble playoffs, he was not to be trifled with. Same thing that's powering him now (motivation) powered him 2, 3 and 4 years ago. Lot to like at under $5MM when he's deployed correctly. Issue is, if he's playing with top line talent you have to expect him to want some $$$ for his contributions. 55+ is very doable and will cost more than $4.5MM US. I don't think he meets the timeline for the team and will return a nice package when he's dealt to a contender at the deadline next year. Just my guess.

Beauvillier looks re-born with the Canucks. He's becoming a serious threat in the offensive zone, even when he isn't putting up points.

He's not a big guy, but is a 'darting skater' who hits the holes and consistently gets to the net. And he has almost elite level hand-eye coordination to get his stick on point shots for tips and deflections.

Don't know if it's sustainable, or whether his production might dip if he's taken off Pettersson's line, but clearly Allvin and the Canucks were betting on this player being an excellent fit with the Canucks.

I still wonder how they'll shuffle out Mikheyev and Beauvillier when the former is healthy. I think either could fit on Millers line with Boeser. Similar players, really; and an archetype I'm glad they're targetting.
