This is fair but did Lias ever show an elite characteristic prior to being drafted? He always seemed like he was going to be player that was sort of “jack of all trades, master of none”.It's not the lack of production from Andersson that bothers me. It's the apparent lack of certain high end skills. I see little creativity and puck poise out of him. It's there in Chytil, you can see it.
He has produced meaningful results at every stage, including the AHL, up until this point. Still no reason to think he will be a bust but from his limited time getting NHL minutes, I think we can expect a guy who will score a lot of around the net goals although I still think he has an above average shot. I don’t think we will get a guy who wows us, not even in a Patrice Bergeron sort of way.
He is going to be a 2C who wears a little. The guy to “carry the offense” will have to be someone else.
Personally, I think the Rangers will get more or less what they bargained for with the LA pick.
1-2 count and looking up put the ball in play. Happy with a double in the gap.
